The 1 NIKKOR VR 10-100mm f/4.5-5.6 PD-ZOOM (Amazon | Adorama | B&H) is a very powerful telephoto lens that has a optical zoom of 10x, ranging from 10mm to 100mm (27mm to 270mm in 35mm format equivalent). It is one of the longest telephoto range CX format lens for the current 1 series Nikon cameras. Retailing at $750 it is also one of the most expensive of all current 1 series Nikkor lenses.
The 1 NIKKOR VR 10-100mm f/4.5-5.6 PD-ZOOM has some of the best Nikkor lens technologies amalgamated into it. It incorporates HRI (High Refractive Index) elements which ensure that the lens has a refractive index of more than 2.0. HRI lens have a higher refractive power than normal glass elements, as such they are capable of better optical results in a smaller & lighter frame.
Nikon has also provided VR (Vibration Reduction) technology in it to make it achieve sharp performance at up to two stops slower shutter speeds. Additionally when panning, the VR system automatically detects it and disengages. Internal Focusing ensures that the lens barrel never extends when focusing. AS (Aspherical Elements) ensures that the lens has a suppressed spherical aberration issue. Nikon has provided its Extra-low Dispersion (ED) lens elements together with Super Integrated Coating (SIC) which ensures lower chromatic aberrations reduced flare and ghosting.
While the lens has a wide f/stop of f/4.5 it can stop down to f/16 for the sharpest perspective. The 1 NIKKOR VR 10-100mm f/4.5-5.6 PD-ZOOM has 21 lens elements arranged in 14 lens groups and weighs 515 grams.
