Nikon AF DC-Nikkor 105mm f/2D Lens

Product Summary

Features

The AF DC-Nikkor 105mm f/2D is a great lens to have, probably the second best lens if you’re interested in portraiture and want to seriously invest in it. This lens has Nikon’s exclusive Defocus Image Control. This is not a soft-focus lens (which some people are likely to comprehend from the complicated technical jargon). There is a ring to switch to the manual focusing mode and once there it is possible to adjust the amount of defocusing (controlling the amount of defocusing) in the background. At f/2 this lens is a very fast lens and if the defocusing is set to 0 performance wise this is probably one of the sharpest lenses that Nikon has ever made.

The lens has a maximum angle of view of 15°20′ on a DX format DSLR and a 23°20′ on a FX format DSLR. It has a total of 6 elements arranged in 6 groups. The diaphragm of the lens is made of 9 curved blades, the secret along with the DI Control technology which creates the soft beautiful bokeh.

The lens has a minimum focusing distance of 3’ (0.9 meters). The lens takes a screw on filter type and the filter thread specification is 72mm. The dimensions of the lens is 3.1×4.4 (diameter x length). The weight of the lens is 640 grams. The build quality is very good and unlike other lenses is made out of tough quality metal (and not plastic).

The lens ships with a 72mm snap-on front end lens cap and a rear lens cap. AF not supported by D40 and D60 camerasAvailable at Amazon | Adorama | B&H
