The AF Nikkor 14mm f/2.8D ED is designed specifically for the large sensor FX format cameras to provide a fantastic perspective of the action. A maximum aperture of f/2.8 means the lens is very bright and combed with a large sensor FX forma DSLR, it is capable of shooting beautiful sharp and properly exposed images in even low light conditions. Ideally the lens is suitable for the purpose of landscape and extremely great quality architectural photography. It is also perfectly suitable for the purpose of creating soft background blur when shooting close subjects.
The maximum angle of view on a FX format camera is 114° whereas the same on a DX format lens is 90°. This lens has 1 ED glass element and 2 aspherical elements reducing color fringing, increasing color saturation and also reducing the chromatic and spherical aberrations.
The rear focusing technology ensures that only the rear elements of the lens moves which ensures that the overall length of the lens never changes. The Manual to Auto mode ensures that manual precise focusing can be achieved even when the lens is trying to auto-focus.
The minimum focusing distance is only 0.66’. There are a total of 14 lens elements arranged in 12 groups. The lens diaphragm is designed with 7 rounded blades. The dimensions of the lens is approximately 3.4×3.4” (diameter x length). The overall weight of the lens is 670 grams. The lens ships with the CLS2 soft case for transportation, a front lens cap and a rear lens cap. AF not supported by D40 and D60, D3000 & D5000 cameras. Available at Amazon | Adorama | B&H
