The AF-S DX NIKKOR 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5G ED is a DX format wide angle prime lens with a focal length range of 10 – 24mm. it has a wide f-stop of f/3.5 when fully zoomed out and f/4.5 when fully zoomed in. At the minimum end the lens has an aperture range of f/22-29. Nikon’s Low-dispersion lens elements (ED) reduces the color fringing, improving color saturation and also increasing the over all performance of the lens. There are two ED lens elements in the lens. Nikon has also bundles it its SWM (Silent Wave Motor) technology which ensures that the lens auto-focuses almost silently. Three Aspherical Elements (AS) ensures that flares and ghosts are reduced. Internal Focusing technology (IF) ensures that the lens never elongates when focusing thereby keeping the barrel length constant. Only the Internal elements of the lens changes position.

The lens has a total of 14 elements arranged in 9 groups. Overall the minimum focusing distance is 0.8 feet (or 0.24 meters). The diaphragm of the lens is composed of seven rounded blades. The lens takes a filter of size 77mm, quite large for a DX format lens. The dimensions of the lens are 82.5 x 87 mm (diameter x length). Overall weight of the lens is 460 grams.
