Features

The new EF 35mm f/2 IS USM is designed to deliver outstanding flexibility, allowing photographers to create an image even broader range of scenes and subjects in wide-angle. This is the Canon’s first-ever 35mm prime to have optical Image Stabilizer technology in a compact and lightweight body to offer outstanding performance. The 35mm focal length also provides the ability to capture everything from close-up portraits to wide-angle landscapes, making it an ideal companion for travel or general reportage photography.

Its advanced specification provides photographers a great flexibility to shoot a wider-range of scenes and subjects. It’s bright, fixed f/2 aperture also permits photographers to add a shallow depth of field, and IS offers a 4-stop light advantage to  capture of blur-free images in low light situations when shooting handheld. Canon also added Intelligent detection of panning motion, with Panning IS mode automatically selected to enable photographers to capture movement with greater accuracy.

To deliver exceptional image quality, the EF 35mm f/2 IS USM also features an aspherical glass-moulded (GMo) element positioned at the rear of the optical path to combat aberration for the entire optical system. Additionally, each individual element features optimised Super Spectra coatings to minimize ghosting and flare. This ensures excellent colour balance with minimal use for post processing. This lens also incorporates a ring-type USM and high performance CPU to provide rapid AF performance, with full-time manual focus to retain maximum control.
