It features UD glass to suppress chromatic aberration, a Subwavelength coating to minimize ghosting. To keep soiling, smears and fingerprints to a minimum Canon used a newly developed Fluorine coating. Other features includes a full-time manual focus for instant switching from AF to Manual operation.
