Overview
Made mostly of anodized aluminum the FUJINON XF14mmF2.8 R lens is designed for the Fuji X mount and pairs well with the Fujifilm XE-1 and the X-Pro 1. With both the cameras this X mount lens offers great sharpness across the frame. The reasonably wide f-stop means the lens offers good soft background and or foreground when focusing on something (bokeh). This makes it suitable as a portrait lens as well. Vignetting is greatly suppressed even when the lens is used to shoot at full wide f-stop.
It has a wide f-stop of f/2.8 while it can stop down all the way to f/22. Additionally the focusing distance is only 0.6’ or 7”. The lens is designed using 10 elements arranged in 7 groups including 2 aspherical and 3 extra low dispersion elements. The focal length of the lens is 14mm which when converted to 35mm format equivalent is 21mm. The wide focal length ensures this lens is a great companion for landscape, group and architectural shots.
The XF14mm is a great camera for the purpose of street photography as well. At f/2.8 it has good low light performance which makes it suitable for the purpose of tricky lighting conditions. The FUJINON XF14mmF2.8 R lens has an angle of view of 89˚. 7 rounded blades make up the lens diaphragm. The overall dimensions of the lens are 65mm x 58.4mm and it weighs 215 grams. The lens takes a filter of specifications 58mm. It comes with a free metal hood with plastic bayonet.
