Overview
This is Sigma’s premium quality circular fisheye lens and one that is widely used by professional photographers wielding major APS-C makes as the first option for this exotic perspective. Designed for the crop APS-C sensors this lens has a focal length of 4.5mm (on a 35mm format). Extreme distortion creating a circular image of the subject/field of view within a black border, this is the specialty of this fisheye lens from Sigma. Sigma states that the lens can be used for scientific works as week because of the equisolid angle projection system.
The lens features any of Sigma’s best innovations like the HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) technology. This is comparable to the USM (Ultra-sonic Motor) technology that Canon has. The result is a very silent Auto-Focusing performance of the lens. Manual focusing ring is provided. In order to switch to manual a focus mode switch needs to be flicked.
The lens has a total of 13 elements arranged in 9 groups and gives an amazing 180˚ angle of view on an APS-C DSLR. The lens diaphragm is made of 6 blades and offers a wide aperture of f/2.8. The lens can stop down all the way to f/22. The minimum focusing distance of the lens is only 5.3” giving a maximum magnification ratio of 1:6. The relatively reasonable sized lens has external dimensions of 3.0” x 3.1”. The overall weight of the lens is 470 grams. It takes a insertion-type gelatin filter. The lens comes in Nikon, Canon, Sony, Pentax and Sigma Mounts. Available at Amazon | Adorama | B&H

Overview
This lens offers a 2.5x optical zoom range (120-300mm) on a full frame DSLR. If mounted on an APS-C camera the lens will have a crop factor of 1.5x giving an equivalent field of view of a 180-450mm lens mounted on a full frame camera. There are many great things about this lens and the fast constant aperture of f/2.8 is one of the things that really make this lens one of the best choices for a wild life photography setup. Sigma’s OS (Optical Stabilization) technology ensures that the lens has up to four stops of shake correction. There are many medium-tele photo lenses (300mm/400mm) with a wide f-stop of f/2.8 currently available in the market and the Sigma directly competes with the lot. At f/2.8 this lens is perfect for sports and low light photography. However, having said that, the lens is flexible enough to be used for the purpose of group shots.
One SLD (super-low dispersion) glass element and two FLD (fluorite low-dispersion) glass elements make up the lens construction which has 23 elements arranged in 18 groups. the lens does not extend during focusing or zooming ensuring that it is a discreet piece of photography tool and Sigma’s multi-layer coating ensures that the lens has much less effect from flares and ghosts.
Sigma’s silent auto-focusing technology or HSM (Hyper-sonic Motor) ensures that the lens is quiet and full-time manual focus override means the photographer can fine tune the focusing adjustment simply by turning the focus ring during auto-focusing. External dimensions of the lens are 4.5” x 11.4” and it weighs 2950 grams. Also check Sigma 50-500mm f/4.5-6.3 DG OS HSM APO

Overview
The Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 EX DG OS HSM (Hyper-sonic Motor) lens has been designed for the larger image circle of a full frame DSLR. This lens covers an excellent focal length range ideal for portrait, wild life and other everyday photography requirements. The lens can also be used with an APS-C DSLR albeit with a crop factor that gives the same field of view that of a 105-300mm lens mounted on a full frame camera.
For wild life photography the ability of the lens to adapt to tricky lighting conditions is a primary requirement for photographers. Anything less than f/4 and you’re immediately on the back foot in as much as contrast and sharpness are concerned. The Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 negates this problem and allows the photographer to negotiate tricky lighting conditions quite easily with its wide and constant f/2.8 aperture. Additionally the OS (Optical stabilization) technology of the lens provides four stops of shake correction. Sigma has also provided ring-type Hyper-sonic motor and a full-time manual override for precise focusing.
The lens has a total of 22 elements including 2 FLD (fluorite low-dispersion) elements and 3 SLD (super low-dispersion) elements arranged in 17 groups. The FLD glass elements give near fluorite element performance in terms of suppressing chromatic aberration, increasing contrast and also ensuring that the cost of producing the lens is cheap. The diaphragm is made up of 9 rounded blades which give a nice soft bokeh for any and all of your portraiture and other shots when you’re using the wide f-stop. Overview
For those who are looking for a single lens to carry at all times to cover everything from standard angle to telephoto then the Sigma 50-500mm f/4.5-6.3 DG OS HSM APO is a lens that is simply irreplaceable. It has a fantastic 10x optical zoom range (50-500mm) and comes with a number of Sigma’s optical technologies to ensure it is a winner all the way. The lens is ideally suitable for a wildlife photographer who wants a single lens that he can use in all situations. At the same time the lens is also suitable for standard everyday photography. Optimized for the large image circle of a full frame DSLR the lens can also be used with APS-C DSLRs with a crop factor of 1.5x. This gives the lens an effective focal length of 750mm on a 35m format equivalent.
Optical Stabilization is beyond doubt a critical component of a lens that goes from standard to a super telephoto range. Sigma claims that the new OS technology provides up to four stops of image stabilization for the lens. If you’re a Sony or Pentax user the image that you see in the viewfinder is optically stabilized providing ease and comfort of composing. Additionally the lens also has Sigma’s silent auto-focusing technology known as HSM (Hyper-sonic Motor). The lens can be used with Sigma’s 1.4X MF and 2X MF tele converters which further give it a further focal length reach.
The lens has a total of 22 elements arranged in 6 groups and the diaphragm of the lens is composed of 9 rounded blades. It has an external dimension of 4.1×8.6”. The weight of the lens is 1970 grams. Also check Sigma 120-300mm f/2.8 EX DG OS HSM

Overview
The best thing about the Sigma 50-150mm f/2.8 EX DC OS HSM is its demure size which makes it one of the smallest and easy to carry 3x optical zoom lenses from Sigma. This 7.8 inches long 50-150mm f/2.8 lens is designed for APS-C DSLRs only and gives a equivalent field of view of a 75-225mm lens mounted on a 35mm body. It features Sigma’s HSM (Hyper-sonic Motor) technology (comparable with that of Canon’s USM. It is very quiet during auto-focusing ensuring its suitability to wild-life photography. The lens comes with four stops of image shake correction.
Lens construction is very good. There are a total of 6 SLD (super low dispersion) glass elements which ensures that chromatic aberrations (color fringing) are suppressed. Over all there are 21 elements arranged in 15 groups. Sigma has also provided its Super multi-layer coating to ensure reduced flares and ghosts. Three features of the lens are really good for professional photographers. First is the inner focusing & zooming elements which means the lens does not extend when focusing or zooming. The next is the HSM (Hyper-sonic Motor) technology and third is the full time manual focusing. This manual focus override allows the user to turn the manual focusing ring to adjust the focus precisely without needing to flick the focus mode switch.
The lens diaphragm is constructed of 9 rounded blades which gives it the maximum f-stop of f/2.8. It can also stop down to f/22. A minimum focusing distance of 31.5” means the lens has a maximum magnification ratio of 1:6.4. The external dimensions of the lens are 3.4”× 7.8”. You may also like Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 EX DC OS HSM

Overview
The Sigma 10-20mm f/3.5 EX DC HSM is designed for the purpose of smaller APS-C sized sensor based DSLRs and is a great lens for the purpose of an ultra-wide perspective for photographers shooting architecture and landscape. The lens can also be used for the purpose of group shots in wedding and or shooting close-up photography (because of its close focusing distance).
The lens produces a wide angle of view of 102.4º- 63.8° and is one of the largest in the APS-C DSLR market. A constant fast aperture of f/3.5 is slightly better than that of the 10-20mm F4-5.6 EX DC HSM also from Sigma and ensures that both low light performance and bokeh are that much better.
Sigma has incorporated two Super-Low Dispersion (SLD) glass elements and two Extraordinary-Low Dispersion (ELD) glass elements to almost stamp out color fringing at all aperture and focal lengths. On top of these there are four spherical lenses to correct spherical aberrations. Overall the lens has 13 elements arranged in 10 groups. Sigma has ensured that super multi layer coating has been provided which takes care of the ghosting and flare.
The lens can also be used for close-up photography with a minimum focusing distance of just 9.4” and a magnification ratio of 1:6.6. Sigma’s HSM (Hyper-sonic Motor) technology ensures that the lens is ultra-quiet when focusing. The diaphragm blade is designed with 7 blades and it stops down all the way to f/22. The external dimensions of the lens are 3.4 x 3.5” and it weighs 520 grams. The lens takes a filter of size 82mm. Available at Amazon | Adorama | B&H

Overview
For smaller APS-C sized DSLR users this lens is an ideal match, which is if you’re into ultra-wide angle photography. The Sigma 8-16mm f/4.5-5.6 DC HSM lens offers a stunning 114.5 to 75.7˚ angle of view with a equivalent focal length of 12-24mm (35mm format). Without breaking into the domain of fish-eye lenses, this is one of the widest perspectives that you can ever hope to achieve on an APS-C crop DSLR. It also has Sigma’s HSM (Hyper-sonic motor) technology. the only problems however is that the lens cannot be used with a filter which means if you’re working on a tricky lighting conditions and want to block out part of it (use a ND filter etc.) this would be impossible.
The Sigma 8-16mm f/4.5-5.6 DC HSM comes with FLD glass elements. Short for “F Low Dispersion” this element reduces the chromatic aberrations present in many wide angle lenses. The near fluorite glass like performance of the FLD element comes at a very low price giving the users both performance and bargain pricing. The lens also has a hybrid aspherical lens and two glass mold elements ensuring suppression for distortion.
The inner focusing lens has also been provided with Super Multi-Layer Coating which ensures ghosts and flares are reduced corners of the lens are also very bright which gives a lot of contrast when using the lens.
The lens has 15 elements arranged in 11 groups with 7 blades making up the diaphragm of the lens. The lens’ external dimensions are 3”x4.2” and it weighs 555 grams. Also check Sigma 10-20mm f/3.5 EX DC HSM

Overview
This is a very versatile lens which can be used for the purpose of macro photography as well as a medium telephoto prime lens. the Sigma 105mm f/2.8 EX DG OS HSM Macro lens has a close minimum focusing distance of 12.3” which gives a maximum magnification ratio of 1:1. In that respect this is a true macro lens.
A fast aperture of f/2.8 gives the lens an incredible amount of flexibility to literally freeze action. This lens can be used to shoot everyday moments and also used for the purpose of doing a lot of macro photography as well. Low light photography is also a possibility because of the fast aperture. Sigma’s HSM (Hyper-sonic Motor) (hyper-sonic motor) technology is similar in lines to Canon’s USM technology and offers quiet auto-focusing. A full-time manual focusing override is also provided which ensures that the photographer can easily adjust the focus to his needs.
The lens construction includes a super-low dispersion (SLD) glass element and a high refractive index SLD lens which suppresses much of the lateral chromatic aberrations increasing color saturation. Along with these the lens also comes with super-multi layer coating for reduced ghosts and flares and floating mechanism for the purpose of independent and superior close-up performance.
A total of 16 elements make up the lens arranged in 11 groups. 9 rounded blades make up the lens diaphragm which apart from its wide f/2.8 aperture can also stop down to f/22. Overview
This prime from Sigma is one of the best f/1.4 primes in the business. Designed for full frame DSLRs the lens is compatible on APS-C crop sensor based DSLRs as well with a crop factor of 1.5x. With a fast aperture of f/1.4 the lens is ideal for shooting in low light conditions using a standard shutter speed suitable for hand holding. Bigger apertures are ideal when it comes to creating a soft background blur and the Sigma 50mm f/1.4 EX DG HSM is suitable for that as well. This is a ideal lens for street photography for a “standard view” on full frame DSLRs. For APS-C users the lens has a focal length (due to crop) of 75mm and thus satisfies the needs of a portrait lens.
But these almost clichéd features are not what the 50mm f/1.4 prime from Sigma is known for. The lens has HSM (hyper sonic motor) technology which means it is very quiet during auto-focusing. Additionally it has full-time manual focusing or focusing override which allows the user to switch to auto-focusing to manual just turning the focusing ring.
Look closely and the lens appears bulky and the benefit of it is when you shoot at wide apertures there are no vignetting something that plagues wide apertures and full frame DSLR combinations.
Specifications of the lens are it has 8 elements arranged in 6 groups, a 9 rounded blade diaphragm and external dimensions of 3.3” x 2.7”. The lens weighs a reasonable 505 grams. Similar products: Sigma 35mm F1.4 DG HSM | Sigma 85mm f/1.4 EX DG HSM

Metabones Added Autofocus Capability to Canon-NEX adapter
Vancouver, Canada, November 7, 2012 – Metabones adds autofocus support for select Canon lenses to its Smart Adapter II (for mounting EF and EF-S mount lenses on Sony NEX cameras).
To ensure the best possible accuracy, autofocus is enabled only for late-model Canon-brand lenses (introduced circa 2006 or later).
Significant effort has been put into focus accuracy research and we conclude that only lenses capable of the most precise control in their autofocus mechanisms could reliably deliver pixel-accurate results when adapted to Sony NEX cameras. Autofocus is disabled for most older Canon lenses and most third-party lenses, but aperture control, image stabilization (if applicable), EXIF and other features will continue to work just like before.
Autofocus speed is significantly slower than on a DSLR camera. Phase detection feature of NEX-5R/6 is not used at this time. As a result, autofocus speed of a Canon EF/EF-S lens on Sony NEX is usually slower than on the new Canon EOS M. Compared with Sony’s own A-mount lens adapters, Metabones Smart Adapter II is faster than LA-EA1 but slower than the translucent-mirror-equipped LA-EA2.
Smart Adapter II with autofocus support is available right now at the same price (US$399+applicable tax/duty) from Metabones’ distributors in many countries all over the world and the Metabones online shop. Existing Smart Adapter II customers may send their units back for an upgrade for a nominal shipping/handling charge of $50.
Lytro Announced Perspective Shift and Living Filters
Lytro Unveils Perspective Shift and Living Filters for New Ways to Experience Living Pictures
Mountain View, Calif. – November 15, 2012 – Lytro Inc., creator of the world’s fir
st consumer light field camera, announced today it will unveil a new light field technology capability for the Lytro camera with Perspective Shift as well as new creative tools with Living Filters. These features will be available to customers starting December 4th via a free Lytro Desktop software update.
Perspective Shift lets Lytro photographers interactively change the point of view in a picture after it has been taken. On a computer or mobile device, viewers can move the living picture in any direction – left, right, up, down and all around. When pictures are shared to the web, Facebook and Twitter, friends can experience Perspective Shift without needing any special software. Perspective Shift also works retroactively on any light field pictures previously taken with a Lytro camera.
“By capturing the light field, the Lytro camera lets photographers achieve things that were never before possible. The first groundbreaking capability was focusing pictures after they were taken and now we are excited to offer Perspective Shift, which brings living pictures to life in an entirely new way,” said Ren Ng, founder and executive chairman of Lytro.
“The new Perspective Shift from Lytro is fun and artistic! I’ve had a wonderful time running around with my Lytro camera to grab little scenes and bend them into this new way of seeing living photos. The idea that you can take any little scene and make it like interactive Matrix-bullet-time is really cool,” said Trey Ratcliff, renowned landscape photographer and Lytro pro-shooter team member.
In addition to Perspective Shift, Lytro announced a new way to enhance light field pictures with Living Filters. With a single click, Lytro photographers will be able to apply one of nine interactive filters to their pictures and change the look of the picture based on light field depth. Unlike traditional digital photo filters, Living Filters create additional effects as viewers interact with a picture. Living Filters is a free update to Lytro Desktop and works on all Lytro light field pictures, including retroactively.

- Carnival: Twist and distort your picture as you refocus and change perspective as if you’re in a funhouse of mirrors.
- Crayon: Add a touch of color to a monochrome version of your picture. Click to focus and add color into your scene, or change your perspective and add color back into your scene as you explore.
- Glass: Put a sheet of virtual glass into your scene. Everything in front of where you click will be unchanged, and everything behind will appear to be behind a piece of frosted glass.
- Line Art: Reduce your scene to a grayscale outline, seeing more detailed lines where you refocus.
- Mosaic: Create a tiled mosaic in the out-of-focus parts of your scene as you click or change your perspective.
- Blur+: Significantly enhance the amount of blur in the out-of-focus parts of your scene.
- Pop: Make parts of your scene pop out with extra detail and vibrancy when those areas are clicked.
- Film Noir: Add a moody and stylized black and white look to your pictures, with a little bit of extra detail and color where you click.
- 8-Track: Bring back the ‘70s with this filter that adds an aged, vignetted look to your pictures. Click to un-age parts of your scene and see them come back to life, disco suit not required.
“Having the ability to play with tiles of your living pictures while you refocus with Mosaic or to give an evening shot more drama with Film Noir will let Lytro camera owners and their friends and family have even more fun with the light field and the living pictures it creates,” said Eric Cheng, director of photography at Lytro.

Overview
The FUJINON XF60mmF2.4 R Macro lens is designed with 10 lens elements arranged in 8 groups including one extra low dispersion element (the 6th element of the lens) and one glass molded aspheric element (7th element). The 60mm focal length range of the lens is roughly the equivalent of that of a 90mm lens on a 35mm camera (crop factor of 1.52x). The lens has an angle of view of 26.6˚.
The diaphragm of the lens is built with 9 beautiful rounded blades. The maximum aperture offered is f/2.4 while it can stop down to f/22. Although Fuji demarcates this lens as Macro it has a reasonable short focusing distance of 0.88’ or 0.267 meters giving a maximum reproduction ratio of 1:2.
Though it has been pitched for macro photography the FUJINON XF60mmF2.4 R Macro is a great portrait lens. The wide f-stop of f/2.4 is perfect for soft out of focus background (or foreground) in your portrait shots (also known as bokeh). The low light performance of the lens is quite good while lens fall-off is virtually suppressed even when shooting wide open at f/2.4.
The overall build quality of the lens is excellent. It is made of anodized aluminum with the lens marking engraved into the metal surface and then painted to fill. The external dimensions of the lens are 64.1mm x 70.9mm and it weighs approximately 215 grams. The filter specifications are 39mm. It comes bundled with a lens hood made of anodized aluminum with plastic bayonet.
