Features

The Olympus M.ZUIKO Digital ED 12-100mm f4.0 IS PRO combines multiple special lens elements to produce a high magnification factor and excellent resolution packed inside a small body. DSA (Dual Super Aspherical) lenses, HR (high refractive index) lenses, and Super HR (super-high refractive index) lenses are combined to effectively correct aberration and minimize the number of lens elements in the configuration, reducing the overall length of the lens. By using multiple ED lenses, color fringing that tends to appear in telephoto shooting is thoroughly reduced, maintaining high resolution and edge-to-edge sharpness across the entire zoom range.

The in-lens image stabilization works in concert with Olympus’ in-body 5-Axis Image Stabilization of the OM-D and PEN camera ranges to create 5-Axis Sync IS, the world’s most powerful image stabilization, with 6.5 shutter speed steps*1of compensation performance. Camera shake commonly associated with handheld telephotography is eliminated, enabling users to capture sharp images and smooth video without the use of a tripod.

In addition to its broad focal range, this high-magnification zoom lens boasts outstanding close-up performance with a minimum working distance of 1.5 cm and a maximum shooting magnification of 0.6x (35mm equivalent) at the 12mm wide-angle setting.

The Olympus M.ZUIKO Digital ED 12-100mm f4.0 IS PRO features lightweight, weatherproof construction, providing dustproof, splashproof and freezeproof (down to 14°F/-10°C) performance to meet the needs of professional photographers in any shooting situation.

Main Features

Compact, lightweight, high-performance, high-magnification zoom lens

The Olympus M.ZUIKO Digital ED 12-100mm f4.0 IS PRO has been added to the high-performance M.ZUIKO PRO series to meet the needs of professional photographers. Multiple special lens elements provide a high-magnification factor and superior resolution in a compact lens body.

The DSA (Dual Super Aspherical) lenses, HR (high refractive index) lenses, and Super HR (super-high refractive index) lenses have been combined to effectively correct chromatic aberration and minimize the number of lens elements in the configuration, reducing the overall length of the lens. The use of glass materials with a higher refractive index than that of previous DSA lenses has resulted in smaller lens diameters. This makes it possible to build a single lens that covers the focal length of two typical professional zoom lenses.

By using multiple ED lenses, the color fringing that tends to occur in telephoto shooting is thoroughly reduced, maintaining high resolution and edge-to-edge sharpness across the entire zoom range. Olympus Z Coating Nano lens coating technology provides sharp, clear image quality by virtually eliminating flare in backlit situations and maintaining resolution when strong light sources are present in the frame.

5-Axis Sync IS, the world’s most powerful image stabilization of 6.5 shutter speed steps of compensation performance*1

The Olympus M.ZUIKO 12-100mm f4.0 IS PRO is equipped with a built-in image stabilization system for blur-free shooting across the entire high-magnification zoom range. By pairing the lens with a compatible Olympus OM-D or PEN camera, the lens stabilization works in sync with the camera’s in-body stabilization to create 5-Axis Sync IS, the world’s most powerful stabilization system providing up to 6.5 shutter speed steps of compensation performance.*1 Because the in-lens image stabilization alone provides up to 5 shutter speed steps of compensation performance,*[1] the lens can be used even with other camera bodies not equipped with image stabilization.

Macro capabilities with a minimum working distance of 1.5 cm and a maximum shooting magnification of 0.6x (35mm equivalent)

The close focusing distance of 15 cm at the 12mm wide-angle setting makes it possible to take close-up shots up to 1.5 cm away from the end of the lens, while the maximum shooting magnification of 0.6x (35mm equivalent) opens up new possibilities of expression. The lens design features superb close-up shooting performance even at other focal lengths, with a minimum working distance of 27 cm and a maximum shooting magnification of 0.42x (35mm equivalent) at the 100mm telephoto setting.

Other Features

  1. The lens features dustproof and splashproof construction, with hermetic sealing in 12 locations. When combined with the dustproof, splashproof and freezeproof body of an Olympus OM-D series camera, users can take advantage of all types of shooting environments.
  2. This lens boasts the same high-quality metal exterior design as the other lenses in the M.ZUIKO PRO series. It is equipped with the Manual Focus Clutch mechanism, which makes switching to manual focus possible by pulling the focusing ring toward you. The lens barrel features the Image Stabilization activation switch and the L-Fn button to pause autofocus or assign other custom settings.

Olympus M.ZUIKO Digital ED 25mm f1.2 PRO

olympus-m-zuiko-digital-ed-25mm-f1-2-proProduct Summary

  • Model Name: Olympus M.ZUIKO Digital ED 25mm f1.2 PRO
  • Release Date:  September 19, 2016
  • Focus Type: Autofocus / Manual
  • Mounts: Olympus
  • Color: Black
  • Availability: October 2016
  • Price: $1199

Features

The fixed-focal length M.ZUIKO Digital ED 25mm f1.2 PRO minimizes chromatic aberration at the plane of focus and beyond, creating a stunningly smooth transition from the subject to defocused backgrounds. This design provides the perfect balance between high resolution and beautiful bokeh for a natural, three-dimensional appearance of the subject.

The M.ZUIKO Digital ED 25mm f1.2 PRO features a lightweight internal focusing mechanism that uses a single thin lens element for extremely fast and accurate focus point acquisition. The advanced MSC (Movie and Still Compatible) autofocus mechanism provides silent and smooth focusing and aperture performance, ideal for video capture. When combined with the powerful in-body 5-Axis Sync Image Stabilization of the Olympus OM-D and PEN cameras, the M.ZUIKO Digital ED 25mm f1.2 PRO provides outstanding resolution and blur-free images under almost all lighting conditions.

The M.ZUIKO Digital ED 25mm f1.2 PRO features dustproof, splashproof and freezeproof (down to 14°F/-10°C) construction, making it the go-to lens for professionals and photo enthusiasts looking to capture brilliant images in all types of shooting conditions.

Main Features

Excellent resolution performance from the widest f1.2 aperture

To ensure high-resolution performance from the center to the edges of the image, even at the widest aperture of f1.2, 19 lenses have been used in an effective layout to suppress all types of aberrations. Color bleeding (on-axis chromatic aberration) is suppressed by using a Super ED lens and two ED lenses. When combined with the color-canceling effects of an E-HR (special high refractive index) lens and HR (high refractive index) lens, peripheral color bleeding (magnification chromatic aberration) is effectively corrected.

Z Coating Nano lens coating technology maintains sharp, clear image quality. This advanced coating significantly reduces flare in backlit situations, optimizing shooting when strong light sources are present in the frame.

Beautiful defocusing effects

The lens design effectively eliminates chromatic aberration in focused areas as well as defocused areas to achieve a smooth transition from the subject to the background. When paired with the lens’s shallow depth of field and beautiful circular bokeh at the maximum aperture, images have a natural, three-dimensional appearance.

Fast and accurate focus point capture

The advanced optical design provides a single focusing lens element for fast and accurate focus point capture. The MSC mechanism enables high-speed, high-precision still image autofocusing and silent, smooth autofocusing for video. Even in shooting situations with a shallow depth of field, quick, accurate focusing allows for beautiful defocusing effects by accurately focusing on faces and eyes when users select Face Detect AF or Eye Detect AF on Olympus OM-D and PEN camera bodies. When combined with compatible OM-D and PEN cameras’ Silent Mode, users are able to photograph musical performances and piano recitals without making a sound.

Limits comatic aberration to depict points clearly and accurately

This lens is capable of depicting points of light accurately, a necessary feature when photographing stars with the f1.2 aperture setting. Aspherical and high-resolution lenses placed near the aperture effectively correct for comatic aberration. These elements enable both the brightness of f1.2 and a high level of optical performance, making it possible to capture points of light without distortion.

Other Features

  • This lens features dustproof and splashproof construction, with hermetic sealing in 11 locations. When combined with the dustproof, splashproof, freezeproof body of the Olympus OM-D series, users can take advantage of all types of shooting environments.
  • This lens boasts the same high-quality metal exterior design as the other lenses in the M.ZUIKO PRO series. It is equipped with the Manual Focus Clutch mechanism, which makes switching to manual focus possible by pulling the focusing ring toward you. A depth of field scale is included on the lens for pan focusing. And the L-Fn button on the lens barrel allows you to pause autofocus and assign other custom settings.
  • Close-up performance is supported by a minimum focusing distance of 30 cm (working distance of 19.5 cm) and a maximum shooting magnification of 0.11x (35mm equivalent: 0.22x).

Main Features

  1. Maximum image magnification of 2.5x (35mm equivalent), highest in its class1

With the highest image magnification of 1.25x (35mm equivalent: 2.5x) in its class1 and a minimum focusing distance of 95mm (14mm from the end of the lens), this macro lens is an affordable way to enter the world of high-quality macro photography. The minimum shooting field of 13.9 x 10.4mm allows users to magnify and capture minute details like never before.

High-magnification macro photography is prone to motion blur caused by movement of the camera. When this lens is paired with the advanced in-camera image stabilization of OM-D and PEN camera bodies, motion blur is virtually eliminated.

  1. Premium construction with excellent image quality

This macro lens is designed to be compact and lightweight while offering outstanding optical performance, making macro photography enjoyable for photographers of all skill levels. DSA2 and EDA3 lenses are utilized to provide high resolution and a maximum image magnification of 2.5x.4 The optical design minimizes vignetting, even at close distances, and the 7 blade circular aperture creates beautiful bokeh beyond the plane of focus.

Fujfilm GFX 50S – Medium Format Digital Camera Under development

fujfilm-gfx-50sFUJIFILM ANNOUNCES DEVELOPMENT OF NEW MEDIUM FORMAT “GFX” MIRRORLESS CAMERA SYSTEM

FUJIFILM GFX 50S will give professional photographers the most extraordinary image quality in the history of Fujifilm

Valhalla, N.Y., September 19, 2016 – In response to unprecedented interest from professional photographers, FUJIFILM North America Corporation today announces the development of the new medium format FUJIFILM GFX mirrorless digital camera system that will deliver unmatched and exceptional image quality. The innovative GFX system will reach a new Fujifilm photographic standard, and support its ongoing commitment to providing the total imaging solution for photographers.

Photographic Excellence and Innovation

Over the course of its proud history that extends over 80 years, Fujifilm has developed and manufactured photographic films with advanced image resolution, outstanding color reproduction and tonal qualities to meet the needs of professional photographers as well as photo enthusiasts. Fujifilm offers an extensive range of professional cameras under the consistent philosophy that “a camera is a tool for capturing your creative vision,” and high quality FUJINON lenses are an indispensable part of that commitment. All of the technologies and expertise of Fujifilm have been amassed to develop the new GFX, which uses a medium-format sensor to achieve the highest level of image quality and a completely new type of mirrorless system, and its companion FUJINON GF lenses.

fujfilm-gfx-50s-frontFUJIFILM GFX 50S

The FUJIFILM GFX 50S mirrorless digital camera will feature the new FUJIFILM G Format 43.8 x 32.9mm sensor with an astonishing 51.4MP resolution and six FUJINON GF Lenses that will be introduced sequentially in early 2017.

Professional-use Mirrorless Camera System

As a long-term manufacturer of photographic films and medium-format film cameras, Fujifilm was always aware of the impact that different formats have on photographic expressions. Using a larger format gives an ultimate enhancement to a camera’s ability to capture “texture,” “depth” and “dimension,” which cannot be attained even by substantially increasing the sensor’s pixel count.

Since the launch of the X Series, an increasing number of professional photographers and photo enthusiasts expressed their desire to achieve the ultimate photographic expression with the X Series’ signature color reproduction. The GFX camera system with the G Format is Fujifilm’s response to their requests.

The FUJIFILM GFX 50S 51.4MP sensor can be adapted to various aspect ratios, including 4:3 (default), 3:2, 1:1, 4:5, 6:7 and 6:17, which were available in large and medium format film cameras. The GFX 50S will use the high-performance “X-Processor Pro” imaging processor to provide Fujifilm’s outstanding color and tone reproduction at an extremely high level. The result is the ultimate capability in photographic expressions that only Fujifilm can deliver thanks to its extensive knowledge in film and medium-format cameras.

Revolutionary Design Concept

The FUJIFILM GFX 50S revolutionizes the concept of medium-format cameras, and compared to conventional medium-format digital SLR cameras, the GFX is lighter in weight, and achieves a far more compact form factor. With regards to functionality, the camera follows in the footsteps of the X Series by featuring numerous physical buttons and dials, and is designed with an ergonomic grip, shaped carefully and optimized for the camera body and lenses.

The FUJIFILM GFX 50S will feature a detachable electronic viewfinder, which users can remove when using an external monitor or wanting to make the system even lighter. In addition, an optional adapter makes it possible to fit the EVF at any angle, giving greater freedom in the

choice of shooting angle. Other optional accessories that will be available at launch include the Vertical Battery Grip, which enhances functionality when shooting in the portrait orientation. The camera also supports tethered shooting, which has become an essential part of the professional photographers’ workflow, and will be compatible with various RAW conversion application software.

fujfilm-gfx-50s-topNewly-developed FUJINON Lenses

The FUJIFILM GFX 50S will use newly-designed FUJINON lenses with a new lens mount for highest performance and image quality.

A new lineup of FUJINON GF lenses, designed specifically for the GFX, supports the new G Mount. Taking advantage of the mirrorless system’s structure, the G Mount has the short flange back distance of just 26.7mm to shorten the back focus distance as much as possible. This prevents vignetting to achieve edge-to-edge sharpness of the world’s highest level.

The initial lineup will include the following six FUJINON lenses:

  1. Standard prime “GF63mmF2.8 R WR” (equivalent to 50mm in the 35mm format)
  2. Wide-angle standard zoom “GF32-64mmF4 R LM WR” (equivalent to 25-51mm in 35mm format)
  3. Mid-telephoto macro 1:0.5 “GF120mmF4 Macro R LM OIS WR” (equivalent to 95mm in 35mm format)
  4. Fast aperture mid-telephoto “GF110mmF2 R LM WR” (equivalent to 87mm in 35mm format)
  5. Ultra-wide “GF23mmF4 R LM WR” (equivalent to 18mm in 35mm format)
  6. Wide “GF45mmF2.8 R WR” (equivalent to 35mm in 35mm format)

Additional Features

The new FUJINON lenses will feature an aperture ring, a popular feature in the X Series, and have a new C (Command) Position on the ring to enable aperture adjustments with the Command Dial on the camera body. Each lens will be dust and weather resistant, built to withstand operation at temperatures as low as 14 degrees Fahrenheit \ -10 degrees Celsius allowing photographers to take them outdoors with confidence in challenging weather conditions.

The new α99 II camera is Sony’s first full-frame camera to feature the acclaimed 4D Focus system, bringing a supreme level of AF performance to Sony’s A-mount line-up. The Hybrid Phase Detection AF system is enabled by combining a precision 79-point dedicated phase detection AF sensor with 399 focal plane phase detection AF points  to produce a 79 hybrid cross AF point array. This enables incredibly precise autofocus performance and advanced subject tracking of any high-speed moving objects across the frame. In addition Translucent Mirror Technology, with no moving mirror, ensures steady, continuous AF operation and live image preview during both still image and video shooting. The precision AF system also performs exceptionally in low-light conditions, as it will function properly in brightness levels as low as EV-4 and in dark locations where most other cameras struggle.

In addition to its advanced autofocusing, the α99 II has been designed to allow for high resolution, continuous shooting at high frame rates. The camera features a new front-end LSI that works with the image sensor, BIONZ X® image processing engine and a newly designed shutter unit to enable continuous shooting at impressive speeds of up to 12fps2with AF/AE tracking6. Thanks to a large buffer, these shots can be viewed immediately after shooting, even when in high-speed continuous shooting mode. Additionally, if these high-speed shots are being taken indoors under artificial lighting, the camera can automatically detect flicker and time the shutter accordingly to minimize its effect on the resulting images.

The new α99 II also has the ability to deliver continuous live shooting at up to 8 fps with AF/AE tracking and minimal display lag thanks to overall improvements in the EVF algorithm. This offers photographers a shooting experience that closely mimics that of an optical viewfinder, while still offering all of the benefits of an electronic viewfinder including a live preview of exposure, white balance and several other camera settings. This continuous live view shooting can be set in 3 stages to match a variety of subjects: 8 fps, 6 fps and 4 fps.

Pixel Power

The back-illuminated full-frame 42.4MP Exmor R CMOS sensor in the new α99 II model features a gapless-on-chip design that allows for fast readout of large volumes of data and maximizes light gathering ability. The net result is very high sensitivity with low noise, wide dynamic range and 42.4MP resolution across an ISO range of 100-25600, expandable to ISO 50 – 102,400.

The new camera has also been designed without an optical low-pass filter, ensuring that all of the finest natural details and textures can be captured with unprecedented depth and realism. Both compressed and uncompressed RAW files are readily available based on user preferences.

5-axis SteadyShot™ INSIDE Image Stabilization

Sony has designed a new in-body 5 axis image stabilization system for A-mount cameras that debuts for the first time in the α99 II model. Having proven to be incredibly popular in the ɑ7 II series of cameras, this five axis system effectively detects and compensates for movement in all axes including X and Y, pitch and yaw and camera roll, and ensures that all captured content is crisp and blur-free. The new stabilization system provides a shutter speed advantage of 4.5 steps, ensuring the full potential of the 42.4MP sensor can be realized. Also, with a simple half press of the shutter button, the effect of this the image stabilization can be monitored in the viewfinder or on the LCD screen, allowing framing and focus to be accurately checked and continually monitored.

Improved design and operability

Based upon feedback from professional users, the design of new α99 II has noticeably evolved compared to its predecessor. The new model is 8% smaller than the original ɑ99 and features a newly designed grip, magnesium alloy body, dual SD card slots and dust and moisture resistance.

The α99 II also features a new shutter unit that has an estimated life of more than 300,000 operations, as well as an XGA OLED Tru-finder with a ZEISS® T* Coating that offers a powerful 0.78x magnification and delivers outstanding clarify from corner to corner. The viewfinder also has a fluorine coating on the outer lens to prevent fingerprints, dust, water, oil and dirt from sticking, ensuring a clear view.

The silent Multi Controller introduced in the original ɑ99 has been improved as well, as it now offers a click-stop ON/OFF switch in addition to allowing control of aperture, shutter speed, ISO, exposure compensation, AF area, AF mode and other settings. The α99 II also offers location data acquisition via a Bluetooth connection to a compatible mobile device and an updated menu structure to deliver a smoother navigational experience.

Movie Magic

For the first time in a Sony A-mount camera, the α99 II has the ability to record 4K video internally with full pixel readout and no pixel binning through usage of the professional friendly XAVC S format. The camera is capable of recording high quality footage at 100Mbps for 4K recording, and utilizing the full width of the large, full-frame image sensor in doing so. It also offers a new ‘Slow and Quick’ mode (S&Q) that supports both slow motion and quick motion. In this mode, frame rates from 1 fps to 120 fps can be selected in 8 steps for up to 60x quick motion and 5x slow motion recording.

A host of other features for professional movie production workflow are also included in the α99 II such as picture profiles, time code and clean HDMI output as well as gamma assist for real time S-Log monitoring and a zebra mode for easier exposure adjustment. 1. 5-Axis Dual I.S. (Image Stabilizer) 2 – The ultimate advantage against any type of blurring

The LUMIX G85 incorporates the new 5-axis Dual I.S.(Image Stabilizer) 2* which has advanced to boast even more powerful and effective blurring suppression. Combining an O.I.S.(Optical Image Stabilizer, 2-axis) and B.I.S.(Body Image Stabilizer, 5-axis), it compensates for larger movements which were conventionally uncontrollable. The LUMIX G85 integrates a high precision gyro sensor that controls the distribution of O.I.S./B.I.S. compensation by studying the focal length and shooting conditions, making it possible to use max. 5-stop slower shutter speed*1. By making the most of both O.I.S and B.I.S., it is highly beneficial not only in wide angle but also in telephoto and in adverse situations, such as at nighttime or with one-handed shooting.

The 5-axis Dual I.S. 2 works for both photo and motion picture recording, including 4K video. Panasonic LUMIX G DSLM (Digital Single Lens Mirrorless) Cameras offer a wide variety of digital interchangeable lenses and most of them will comply with the 5-axis Dual I.S. in the LUMIX G85*2 and the B.I.S. compensates for camera movement even when a lens without O.I.S. is used.

The LUMIX G85 features an electromagnetic drive in the shutter unit. The shock caused by the movement of the shutter diaphragm is dramatically reduced and the shutter sound is minimized. Together with the adoption of solid magnesium for the front panel, the total shutter shock is reduced by approx.90% compared with the predecessor G7. This enables users to release the mechanical shutter even in situations where they previously had to use the electronic shutter.

2. No more missed photo opportunities – cutting edge technologies & stunning performance

Thanks to this 4K technology, users can experience 4K PHOTO to capture fleeting photo opportunities at 30 fps by extracting the frame with the best timing out of the 4K burst file to save as a photo. In 4K PHOTO, three exclusive modes are available to choose from depending on the situation; 4K Burst, 4K Burst (Start/Stop) and 4K Pre-burst. All of these functions in 4K PHOTO let the user save pictures in 8-megapixel equivalent high resolution without missing spur-of-the-moment shots. Plus, multiple images can be saved as 4K PHOTO shots all at once in the LUMIX G85. A maximum of 150 frames in five seconds following a designated frame can be saved.

The Contrast AF achieves even higher speed, higher precision focusing with digital signal communication at max. 240 fps. Furthermore, the DFD (Depth From Defocus) technology*1 calculates the distance to the subject by evaluating 2 images with different sharpness levels while consulting the data of optical characteristics of the current lens in a moment. As a result, the LUMIX G85 achieves ultra-high speed AF of approx.0.07 sec*2. Multi- processing capability realizes high speed burst shooting at 9 fps (AFS) / 6 fps (AFC) to capture fast moving subject in crisp focus. Furthermore, the Venus Engine in the LUMIX G85 is more capable of tracking moving subjects, and it prevents out-of-focus shots even when the subject is fast-moving or when an obstacle cut across in front of the subject. Newly added AF Sensitivity mode lets the user set the tracking sensitivity according to the shooting situation. The compatibility of UHS-II SDXC/SDHC Memory Card and increased buffer memory elevates the maximum number of recordable images in consecutive shooting up to 300 (JPEG) / 45 (RAW) images or more.

For AF performance, the Low Light AF makes it possible to set focus on the subject more precisely even without an AF assist lamp in extremely low-lit situations down to -4EV, which is as dark as under moonlight. Plus, the DMC-G85 integrates Starlight AF which allows users to shoot a star in the sky at night with auto focus. This can be achieved by the accurate calculation of the contrast value in a smaller AF zone. A total of 49 focus detection areas enable more flexible composition together with the Custom Multi AF mode in which users can freely select the blocks to focus on out of the 49 focusing areas. In addition to the conventional Face Recognition AF, the DMC-G85 incorporates Face / Eye Detection AF which automatically sets focus right on the eye of a human face. With the Pinpoint AF, users can magnify the target area for more precise focus.

3. Perfect mobility with careful design and control – optimized for handheld field use

To withstand even heavy field use, the LUMIX G85 boasts a rugged design with a front structure composed of a magnesium alloy full die cast front frame. It also features a splash / dustproof construction thanks to the use of sealing in every joint, dial, and button.

High-precision, high-speed OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode) display features 2,360K-dot high resolution and 100% field of view. Adoption of OLED for the LVF achieves high speed response with minimum time lag of less than 0.01 sec as well as 10,000:1 high contrast for exceptional visibility. With an eyepoint of approximately 20 mm, it offers high visibility with comfort for users wearing glasses. It is always sharp and clear from the center all the way to the corners.

Adopting a static-type touch control system, the 3-inch free-angle rear monitor with 1040K-dot high resolution features approx.100% field of view. It tilts up and down by 270-degree which makes shooting in either high or low angle even easier.

To further enhance controllability, the LUMIX G85 comes with an ergonomically-designed thick grip for stable holding even in one hand. The front/rear dual dial system with dial operation switch enables direct setting – for example, users can adjust the white balance with a front dial and set the ISO with a rear dial while choosing the shutter speed or watching the noise effect, which is helpful in complex lighting situations. Two custom modes (C1 and C2) on the mode dial enable users to access the target menu quickly.

4. High image quality with true-to-life detail and impressive color reproduction

The LUMIX G85 lets users shoot vibrant, true-to-life high quality images with excellent resolution, high contrast and impressive color reproduction. Removing the Low Pass Filter, the limiting resolution is improved by approx.10%* while detecting high frequency components to suppress the generation of moiré by the Venus Engine.

The Venus Engine even reproduces vibrant, impressive colors for images such as clear skies by dividing the hue, saturation, and luminosity, and finely adjusts them separately. Taking advantage of these fine tuning capabilities, the LUMIX G85 enables users to choose a preset of contrast, sharpness, saturation and noise reduction as they like, according to the shooting subject in Photo Style. Notably, L Monochrome mode in Photo Style makes it possible to shoot impressive monochrome photos with deep black and rich gradation like that of B/W film.

The combination of the Digital Live MOS Sensor and the Venus Engine achieves clear image rendering with minimum noise even in low-lit situations and at max. ISO 25,600.

5. 4K capability brings evolution to videography

Taking advantage of the high speed signal readout capability of the sensor and high speed signal processing, the LUMIX G85 is capable of recording 4K video*1*2. In addition, the LUMIX G85 also enables 4K Live Cropping in video recording that realizes stable panning or zooming in video recording. In panning shots, the user can simply set the viewing angle to start and end with to get smooth panning without using any special equipment like a slider. In zooming, you can set the after-zoomed viewing angle first, so that the subject is perfectly framed. Thanks to the digital operation, the zooming imagery is smooth because it does not physically move the zoom lens.

6. A new shooting experience made possible with advanced LUMIX technologies

The LUMIX G85 comes with the Post Focus function that enables users to select the in-focus area even after shooting. This is helpful in situations like macro shooting where strict focusing is required or for changing expressions by changing the focused subject. This function has been developed by combining the high-speed, high-precision DFD (Depth From Defocus) auto focus technology and the 4K technology. Now the Post Focus menu is available on the mode dial for users to activate more quickly.

A newly integrated Focus Stacking function enables users to adjust the depth of field after shooting by combining multiple images shot with the Post Focus function in the camera. Users do not need to set severe focus while shooting as they can get the image with the defocus level that they want or pan-focus image simply by selecting the focus area after shooting. This is beneficial when shooting macro shots of insects, small accessories and so on.

In addition, the LUMIX G85 incorporates Light Composition function as a new option of 4K PHOTO mode. The camera synthesizes the images by choosing and saving brighter pixels. 1. New F1.4-2.8 / 24-72mm LEICA DC VARIO-SUMMILUX lens

Panasonic newly developed the F1.4-2.8 LEICA DC VARIO-SUMMILUX lens system with 3x optical zoom (35mm camera equivalent: 24-72mm) and an aperture ring. The lens unit boasts high-speed F1.4 and F2.8 even at the tele-end. It enables high-speed shutter release to capture clear, sharp images even in low-lit situations as well as giving a beautiful defocus to the background to make the subject stand out for impressive photos and videos.

The lens unit consists of 11 elements in 9 groups, including 6 dual-sided aspherical lenses and low-dispersion lenses adopted for two of them to adjust axial chromatic aberration, achieving high-speed F1.4. The use of 6 aspherical lenses and optimization of the optical design achieve beautiful, smooth defocusing with an invisible edge line, and the onion ring effect is suppressed by Panasonic’s unique aspherical lens mold technology. In addition, a newly adopted 9-blade aperture diaphragm helps to produce bokeh effects with a smooth, circular shape. In addition, 6 groups of lenses are driven independently, which helps to downsize the lens barrel.

2. 1-inch large 20-megapixel High Sensitivity MOS Sensor and Venus Engine

The LUMIX LX10 incorporates a large, 1-inch High Sensitivity MOS Sensor with 20.1-megapixel high resolution. The 1-inch sensor is 3 times larger than the LX7’s 1/1.7-inch sensor (multi-aspect). The rich amount of light helps to produce impressive defocusing with shallow depth of field.

The image processor Venus Engine dramatically boosts performance with a new quad-core CPU that enables the high-speed signal processing required for rich video recording such as 4K. Advanced Multi-process NR (Noise Reduction) applies effective noise reduction and detail processing to each component frequency. Plus, a newly added Random Filter granulates chromatic noise to blend it into the image even more naturally. As a result, a max. ISO 12,800 is achieved. Together with the high-performance image processor Venus Engine, high image quality is achieved by optimizing sensitivity, resolution, color reproduction and gradation. The advanced noise reduction system detects edge parts, smooth parts and gradation parts and applies appropriate noise reduction individually. The result is sharp, clear images with precise color reproduction.

The LUMIX FZ2500 incorporates a dedicated linear motor into the focus system to achieve ultrahigh-speed AF with DFD (Depth From Defocus) technology*1 which shortens the focus time. It calculates the distance to the subject by evaluating two images with different sharpness levels at a high 240-fps signal exchange speed. As a result, the LUMIX FZ2500 achieves ultrahigh-speed AF of approx.0.09 sec*2 and high speed burst shooting at 12 fps (AFS) / 7 fps (AFC) to capture fast-moving subjects in crisp focus up to 100 (JPEG) / 30 (RAW) images.

Thanks to this 4K technology, users can experience 4K PHOTO to capture fleeting photo opportunities at 30 fps by extracting the frame with the most photogenic image out of the 4K burst file to save as a photo. Plus, multiple images can be saved as 4K PHOTO shots all at once in the LUMIX FZ2500. A maximum of 150 frames in five seconds following a designated frame can be saved. Users can check these images on a large PC monitor and select the best shot after shooting.

The LUMIX FZ2500 comes with the Post Focus function that lets users select the in-focus area even after shooting. This is helpful especially in macro shooting where strict focusing is required or for changing expressions by changing the focused subject. This function was developed by combining high-speed, high-precision DFD (Depth From Defocus) auto focus technology and 4K technology.

The newly integrated Focus Stacking function enables users to adjust the depth of field after shooting by combining multiple images shot with Post Focus function inside the camera. Users do not need to focus severely while shooting because they can get the image with the defocus that they want, or a pan-focused image, by simply selecting the focus area after shooting. This is beneficial when shooting macro shots of insects, small accessories and so on.

The 4K PHOTO and Post Focus menus are available on the drive dial for users to activate them more quickly.

Solid Design with Intuitive Control

The LUMIX FZ2500 offers both a sleek, solid exterior design and intuitive control. The dual dial control system around the barrel of the large-diameter LEICA DC lens enables focusing and zooming, and the 4 ND filter setting modes can be changed quickly with a switch that is also located on the lens barrel. The well-defined grip provides a stable hold with minimum fatigue despite its substantial weight. The front/rear dual dial system enables direct setting of the shutter speed and aperture. And the optimal dial, button, lever and switch layout allow intuitive control with comfort in both photo and video shooting.

The LUMIX FZ2500 has a large LVF (Live View Finder) with a high magnification ratio of approx. 2.18x / 0.74x (35mm camera equivalent in 4:3). Hasselblad V1D – 75MP square-format V-style concept camera

hasselblad-v1d-side
What happens when you combine the fundamental principles behind the classic Hasselblad cameras with cutting edge technology, modern production methods and contemporary design? The V1D 4116 Concept is a study created to explore the Hasselblad heritage to find new ways of designing innovative cameras for the future. Hasselblad’s engineers and designers came up with a modular concept with a square format (75MP) inspired by the classic Hasselblad V Camera.

One of the fundamental principles behind the design of the V1D is the modular approach. Hasselblad has created a uniquely flexible platform for photographers to set up the camera to suit their specific needs.

The camera body is more or less a black box, carefully machined out of a solid block of aluminium, carrying fixings for modules on 4 sides. The top and the back surface can carry modules that cover the entire surface such as displays, viewfinders and holders for accessories. The left and right hand surfaces have round fixings for controls and grips. The photographer can choose where to place the display – or if needed it is possible to have two displays. Users can have a viewfinder on the top and a display at the back. The camera can be used with the robust, but generic grip or held like a classic V Camera to reach the exposure button in the front.

With the V1D being completely modular, left-handed photographers can also configure the camera perfectly for their needs, with the rotary dial controls for aperture and shutter speed placed on either the left or right hand side. All in all, there are many ways to personalise the V1D. The proportions of the body have been carefully developed to find the perfect blend between a modern product expression and the classic Hasselblad silhouette.

With this new addition, the lens portfolio of the Leica T camera system now offers a total of six lenses – including three prime lenses and three zoom lenses – that together offer a range of focal lengths for every photographic situation. The two fast prime lenses, the Leica Summicron-TL 23 mm f/2 ASPH. and the Summilux-TL 35 mm f/1.4 ASPH, are classic focal lengths for reportage photography. The APO-Macro-Elmarit-TL 60 mm f/2.8 ASPH. complements them ideally as a lens for finely detailed close-up photography. Finally, the three compact zoom lenses, the Leica Super-Vario-Elmar-TL 11–23 mm f/3.5–4.5 ASPH, Vario-Elmar-TL 18–56 mm f/3.5–5.6 ASPH, and APO-Vario-Elmar-TL 55–135 mm f/3.5–4.5 ASPH, cover an entire range of focal lengths equivalent to 17 to 200 mm in 35 mm format and deliver outstanding images with rich contrast from corner to corner of the frame.

As the Leica T and the new Leica SL share the same L bayonet mount, the name ‘TL’ will be implemented for all new Leica T lenses moving forward. Thanks to the flexibility offered by the TL-Lenses for a wide range of applications on cameras with the L-Bayonet, Leica once again showcases the company’s fundamental principle of system-compatibility and sustainability and offers users access to an even wider portfolio of Leica products

All Leica TL-Lenses impress with outstanding imaging performance at lengths that range from infinity to their closest focusing distance and deliver images with the unique Leica look and bokeh. Designed by the optical engineering specialists in Wetzlar, the lenses all offer the exceptional imaging performance for which Leica lenses are renowned. The combination of optical and technical expertise and the use of only the finest materials guarantee consistent quality and reliability in every situation.

Optical design refreshed to achieve even higher performance

Three LD (Low Dispersion) lens elements completely eliminate axial and transverse chromatic aberrations. The design also features an upgraded optical construction (21 elements in 13 groups) and leverages improvements in manufacturing technology. As a result, the lens delivers high resolution, improved sharpness and overall better performance.

Tamron’s sophisticated eBAND Coating for eliminating ghosting and flare

eBAND (Extended Bandwidth & Angular-Dependency) Coating is a nano-structured layer deployed on the lens element surface. In addition to regular anti-reflection coatings, eBAND Coating offers higher light transmission and significant improvement in anti-reflection characteristics, especially against angulated incident rays. Combined with BBAR (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection) coatings, flare and ghosting are reduced to imperceptible levels.

MOD reduced to provide optimum tele-macro photography

Tamron’s advanced manufacturing technology has made it possible to reduce the MOD (Minimum Object Distance) to 86.6 in (2.2m), compared to 106.3 in (2.7m) for Model A011, and has allowed for the wonders of tele-macro photography with its 1:3.9 Maximum Magnification Ratio.

AF speed is faster and much more responsive with moving subjects

The Model A022 is equipped with a USD (Ultrasonic Silent Drive) ring-type motor that delivers excellent responsiveness and control. AF speed is significantly improved from the current model, and it enables accurate high-speed focus even when capturing moving subjects. When shooting with AF, the Full-time Manual Focus override allows you to instantly make fine-focusing adjustments manually, without having to switch between modes.

VC performance is now 4.5 stops and offers 3 modes optimized for different situations

The VC (Vibration Compensation) effectiveness is equivalent to 4.5 stops, based on image stabilization performance levels established by CIPA (Camera & Imaging Products Association) when using VC MODE 3. Model A022 now has three types of VC modes, and it is possible to choose the optimum VC mode according to the situation for taking a photograph, such as when panning.

  • VC MODE 1 is the standard mode that strikes a great balance between the stability of the viewfinder image and the stabilization effects.
  • VC MODE 2 is exclusively used for panning.
  • VC MODE 3 prioritizes the stabilization of the captured images and forgoes the stabilization of the viewfinder image.

A new VC Mode can be programmed with the optional TAMRON TAP-in Console™. You can overwrite VC Mode 1 with a new VC Mode that allows stabilization to be engaged constantly for videography purposes. In this mode, the LCD screen is used.

New FLEX ZOOM LOCK mechanism enables locking of the zoom ring at any position

The FLEX ZOOM LOCK mechanism quickly locks or unlocks the zoom at any position simply by sliding the zoom ring. Photographers can shoot from any angle without the zoom extending unintentionally. Additionally, the lens features the conventional Zoom Lock switch to prevent unwanted barrel extension during transportation.

Tamron SP 150-600mm F5-6.3 Di VC USD G2 - MTFFluorine Coating and Moisture-Resistant Construction for a more user-friendly lens

The front surface of the lens element is coated with a protective fluorine compound that is water- and oil-repellent. The lens surface is easier to wipe clean and is less vulnerable to the damaging effects of dirt, dust, moisture and fingerprints. For greater protection when shooting outdoors, leak-proof seals throughout the lens barrel help protect your equipment.

Tamron SP 150-600mm F5-6.3 Di VC USD G2 Lens - weather sealingElectromagnetic diaphragm system now used for Nikon-mount lenses

An electromagnetic diaphragm system, which has been a standard feature for Canon-mount lenses, is now employed in Nikon-mount lenses[1]. More precise diaphragm and aperture control is possible because the diaphragm blades are driven and controlled by a motor through electronic pulse signals.

Lightweight and easy-to-hold tripod mount is compatible with an Arca-Swiss style quick release plate

A new textured grip and Arca-Swiss style tripod interface enhances both speed and utility. And because the tripod mount is made of lightweight magnesium, it is much easier to carry.

Compatible with TAMRON TAP-in ConsoleTM, an optional accessory product

The optional TAP-in Console provides a USB connection to your personal computer, enabling you to easily update your lens’s firmware as well as customize features including fine adjustments to the AF and VC.

Teleconverters exclusively for the Tamron lens now developed

Two exclusive teleconverters[2], which perfectly match the optics of the new SP 150-600mm G2 (Model A022), offer 1.4x and 2x magnification, and provide a maximum zoom range up to 1200mm. These new teleconverters extend focal length of the master lens, making it possible to take pictures in farther ultra-telephoto ranges.

Based on the rigorous quality standards worthy of the SP series, this new lens is manufactured with thorough attention to details

For the SP series products in particular, Tamron has established rigorous design and quality standards. These standards apply to the optical design, mechanical design and the cosmetic appearance, as well as to such wide-ranging areas as the product’s robustness and improvements in various individual functions. Tamron thoroughly reviews of all of the design and manufacturing processes in order to offer products to customers with ever-higher precision and quality levels.

For the SP 150-600mm G2 (Model A022), the optical design was refreshed, mechanical parts were improved and a new exterior design was adopted. To maximize the optical performance intrinsic to this product, Tamron improved the accuracy of component parts and increased the precision of the overall zooming mechanism.

Design Concept

The new design adopted for the four SP series lenses already on the market is essentially the fusion of engineering and style, the pursuit of functional beauty and craftsmanship achieved by giving meticulous attention to minute details. Using metal as the exterior material creates a high-grade design based on the concept that emphasizes “Human Touch” characteristics, and significantly improves user-friendliness. The SP models feature a novel design for the switches, easy-to-read characters, an enlarged window over the distance scale and the adoption of organic forms easy for the photographer’s fingers to hold onto.

This design philosophy-the pursuit of functional beauty with a “Human Touch”-is applied even to the most minute details of the new SP 150-600mm G2 (Model A022) ultra-telephoto zoom. By using metal for the exterior material and adding new functions such as the FLEX ZOOM LOCK mechanism, the Model A022 achieves a size and weight that makes comfortable handheld shooting possible, with a slim and stylish appearance design to top it all off.
