The next level

Photographers who consciously employ the unique aesthetics of black-and-white photography to express their creativity can rely on the Leica M Monochrome as a modern tool. As the successor to the world’s first digital black-and-white camera, it offers the latest technologies to support creative visualisation in its archetypal form. For pictures of unequalled quality. For pictures with previously unimaginable sharpness, depth and clarity. A pioneer in every respect. A true Leica.

Instantaneous response

Black-and-white photography with unrivalled speed: with the Leica Maestro, the Leica M Monochrom not only features the same high-performance processor as its counterpart with colour vision, the Leica M, but also offers the extra speed reserves of a 2 GB buffer memory. This enables sequential shooting at three times the speed of the previous model – with pictures in the exceptional M quality photographers expect. The pictures are instantaneously available for display in review mode and written as JPEG files and/or RAW data in DNG format to the memory card.

LEICA M MONOCHROM (Type 246) 04

Leica M Monochrom – the sharpest way to see things in black and white: thanks to a high-resolution 24-megapixel sensor that captures images in 35 mm full-frame format – with three times the speed of its predecessor. As the sensor records only luminance values, this leads to 100% sharper pictures with an exceptional depth, clarity and resolution of details that by far exceed those of colour exposures – even when shooting with the highest ISO sensitivity settings. Pictures that already satisfy professional demands in JPEG format.

A discreet delight

Discreet and solidly built, the Leica M Monochrom brings all the essentials anyone could ever need for unobtrusive photography – to last a lifetime, if you wish. Its endurance is guaranteed by the superior quality and solidity of the materials that go into its construction – top deck and baseplate are machined from solid brass and the camera body is engineered from high-strength magnesium alloy. Equally hard-wearing is the extremely scratch-resistant and almost unbreakable sapphire glass cover plate for its LCD monitor. This reduction to the essentials is what makes it a true Leica.

As if painted with light

The omission of colour filters in front of the sensor allows more light to reach its surface. More light for aesthetic, pin-sharp and finely resolved exposures at sensitivities up to ISO 25000. Pictures that possess a finely grained noise signature at the highest ISO values that are reminiscent of the look of analogue photos. Thanks to the combination of low susceptibility to noise, a bright viewfinder/rangefinder, a low-vibration shutter release and fast lenses, the Leica M Monochrom opens up entirely new dimensions for available-light photography.

Creative contrasts

By modifying the conversion of colours to grey scale values, yellow, green and orange lens filters – calculated especially for use with the Leica M Monochrom – offer new opportunities for the exploration of creative effects with light and contrast. This means that the colour of the filter in the original scene becomes brighter and its complementary colour darker. This is effective for creating unusual moods in landscapes, portraits and other genres of photography. At the same time, multilayer coating reduces reflections and ensures high transmission without vignetting.

Full visual control with Live View

In Live View mode, the high-resolution 3″ monitor with a resolution of 921,600 pixels enables complete control of composition, framing, exposure, focusing and depth of field. Live View also offers two additional focusing methods: Live View Zoom for tenfold magnification of the scene or subject, and Focus Peaking, which automatically marks the edges of objects in colour when they are sharply focused. All leading to the same destination: pictures with exceptional sharpness.

Moving pictures in M quality

Video at the press of a button: the Leica M Monochrom has a separate release button for activating video recording in 1080p full-HD format. Thanks to a dedicated adapter, the legendary R-series lenses can also be used for recording video with all available functions. Perfect sound is ensured by an optional Leica microphone adapter set, comprising an adapter and a stereo microphone.

Wide Zoom Range
The new Tokina AT-X 12-28mm F/4 lens has a super-wide to standard zoom range while maintaining a constant fast f/4.0 aperture. This makes ita very versatile lens for different photo applications such as scenery, street scenes photography and event coverage. The lens is designed for DSLR cameras with APS-C (DX) sized sensors.

New Optical Design
A new optical design using aspherical elements and super-low dispersion glass matches even the highest mega-pixel DX sensors cameras available today.
One aspherical lens element is positioned in the front group. This together with another precision molded glass aspherical lens element placed in the rear group ideally focuses marginal light rays andmaintains sharpness at the edgeswhile also correcting distortion. The use of two different SD(Super-low Dispersion) glass elements, type FK01 and FK03, corrects chromatic aberration. The combination of all these specialized elements in the optical design yield excellent sharpness and color.

New auto focus mechanism
The new AF “GMR magnetic precision” control sensor is capable offastauto-focus. Tokina placed the new sensor closerto the drive unit in the lens for faster communication between the controller and AF motor. This combined with the motor’s high-precision focus control yields faster, more accurate auto-focus.

Additionally, a brand new “SD-M” (Silent Drive-Module) has greatly lowered the sounds emitted by the auto focusdrive system allowing for much quieter AF. Both Canon and Nikon mounts have a built-in AF motor to make them auto-focus compatible with all current camera bodies.

Compact body design
The Tokin AT-X 12-28mmF/4 compact designmakes the lens easy to carry and handle. Manual focus is achieved through Tokina’s one-touch focus clutch AF/MF mechanism. Simply slide the manual focus ring forward for auto-focus or back for manual focus operation. The lens focus ringis damped in the manual mode for smooth and precise focusing.
In addition thelens has a 77mm filter size allowing filters such as the Hoya HD low-profilecircular polarizer or UV to be used.

A further expansion of the imaging range with a minimum focal length of 16mm (35mm film equivalent: 24.8mm) at the wide-angle end of the zoom range, and a maximum focal length of 300mm (35mm film equivalent: 465mm), this remarkable new lens provides the world’s first zoom ratio of approximately 18.8X.

Responding to requests from consumers who wanted to be able to photograph subjects with a wider viewing angle than is possible with conventional high-power zoom lenses, Tamron has developed a unique lens with a minimum focal length of 16mm. At the telephoto end, the maximum focal length has been increased to an impressive 300mm. Users of this new lens can enjoy unprecedented framing flexibility by easily adjusting the angle of view using the convenient zoom ring.

Superior, reliable image quality.
The lens construction features 16 elements in 12 groups. This includes three Molded-Glass Aspherical elements, one Hybrid Aspherical element, two LD (Low Dispersion) elements, one XR (Extra Refractive index) glass element, and one element of UXR (Ultra-Extra Refractive Index) glass, which has a greater refractive index than XR.  The full use of specialized glass elements in the design contributes to thorough compensation of optical aberrations. In addition, the use of the latest coating technology for suppressing reflections on lens element surfaces minimizes unwanted flare and ghosting and assures sharp, crisp, high-contrast images.

Using a new design approach to create an ultra-compact lens.
The latest optical technology has been used to provide an expanded zoom range (compared to the B008) at both the wide-angle and telephoto ends, without necessitating the use of an oversized lens body. By employing UXR glass (which helps to reduce the size of the front lens diameter), an optimized layout of the Molded-Glass Aspherical elements, and adopting a 5-lens-group zoom system approach to provide enhanced design flexibility, the new lens embodies the fusion of state-of-the-art optical design, sophisticated mechanical design, and high-precision lens manufacturing technology, thereby attaining a compact size, an unprecedented zoom range, and superior image quality.

A minimum focusing distance of just 15.3 inches supports an extensive range of macro photography capabilities.
The new lens provides a minimum focus distance of 15.3 inches over the entire zoom range, with a maximum magnification ratio of 1:2.9. This makes it possible to get right up close to the subject of the photo to enjoy easy, stress-free macro photography.

PZD (Piezo Drive) delivers faster, quieter autofocus action.
The PZD (Piezo Drive) advanced standing-wave ultrasonic motor system delivers faster, quieter, more precise AF action when the autofocus is engaged. There is enhanced support for contrast-detection AF capabilities, and focusing when in live-view mode has been made smoother. The new lens also features full-time manual focus, a function that was not provided on the B008, making manual focusing more convenient.

Sharper images with VC (Vibration Compensation)
Tamron’s acclaimed VC mechanism is incorporated into the new lens. VC reduces image blur caused by camera shake to deliver significantly sharper images even when shooting handheld at long telephoto settings.

Moisture-resistant construction for worry-free outdoor shooting.

Upgraded cosmetic design.
Tamron has upgraded the cosmetic design and finish of this lens to create a more sophisticated, high-end look in keeping with the demands of discerning DSLR users. Employing a sophisticated linear pattern rubber grip on the zoom and focus rings, and an elegant tungsten-silver name-brand ring, etc., this newly designed model accentuates its visceral presence with understated elegance and class.

Recommended for APS-C photographers who…

Key features

  • X Pocketable Premium Compact
  • New Film Simulation “CLASSIC CHROME”
  • Evolved Autofocus
The world’s fastest* 0.06 seconds AF performance
  • Fast aperture of F1.8, versatile 4x optical zoom, and macro shots from as close as 3cm
  • X-Trans™** CMOS II & EXR Processor II

The XQ2 is a deceptively powerful camera offering advanced X Series image quality and functionality in a very small package. Suited to both amateurs and enthusiasts, the XQ2 is compact enough to carry with you at all times, captures superb shots and offers plenty of creative effects.

  • The pocket-sized XQ2 features a versatile F1.8 4x zoom lens alongside many features seen on the recently-launched and highly regarded FUJIFILM X30, including the same 2/3-inch X-Trans™* CMOS II sensor, EXR Processor II, highly-evolved AF and new “Classic Chrome” Film Simulation mode.
  • At 2/3-inch, the XQ2’s sensor is approximately double** the size of those found in ordinary compact digital cameras and also able to deliver the world’s fastest*** AF speed at just 0.06 seconds.
  • At an ultra-slim 100×58.5×33.3mm (WxHxD) it’s also one of the most pocketable advanced cameras around, but there’s no compromise on performance or image quality. What’s more, the XQ2’s elegant design and classy finish really makes it stand out. Available in luxurious black, silver or white finishes, it is the perfect premium compact for discerning photographers.

Unique sensor design and X Series image quality

The XQ2’s 2/3-inch X-Trans™ CMOS II sensor has a unique, random pixel array which controls moiré and false colors without the need for an optical low-pass filter. This enables light from the lens to pass straight to the sensor delivering excellent resolution and low noise.

Bright F1.8 lens

The ultra-bright lens on the XQ2 has a wide-angle maximum aperture of F1.8, and a 4x zoom (25-100mm*4) and constructed with four aspherical and three extra-low dispersion elements, with all lens surfaces covered in Fujinon’s unique HT-EBC coating to reduce flare and ghosting. The bright F1.8 aperture allows a natural bokeh effect in the background, creating a beautiful contrast with the main subject, and the lens’s 3.0 stop*5 optical image stabilization keeps pictures sharper when using the camera in low-light conditions.

In addition, Fujifilm’s unique “Lens Modulation Optimizer” image processing technology maximizes lens performance by correcting optical effects like diffraction, based on the unique light-gathering performance and characteristics of each lens setting.

Speedy and responsive shooting

With its instinctive focusing and quick start-up time, the XQ2 won’t let you down when you need to capture a fleeting moment. It boasts the world’s fastest AF of just 0.06 seconds and a shooting interval of 0.3 seconds until the next shot can be taken, while shutter lag is an almost unnoticeable 0.015 seconds.

Using an evolved algorithm to boost performance, the AF system examines each subject and scene, and automatically switches between Contrast AF mode, which is accurate even in low light, and Phase Detection AF mode, which is faster for shooting moving subjects. This ensures speedy and accurate autofocus for any type of scene or subject. The new Multi AF automatically selects up to nine focus areas for accurate focusing across the frame and the ability to detect human faces enhances AF accuracy even further.

Easy operation and great handling

The premium finish of the camera body and its ease of operation give the XQ2 a truly sophisticated feel. From its Advanced Filters to manual focusing, or setting the aperture and shutter speed, a variety of functions can be set by turning the control ring, textured and machined aluminum, fitted around the lens. This tactile control avoids the need to go into the menu and speeds up operation, plus it’s easy to access your own preferred functions, using the extended function (E-Fn) button on the back of the camera.

Transfer images wirelessly

Wireless image transfer is simple from the XQ2 to a smartphone or tablet once the free FUJIFILM Camera Application has been installed. There are no troublesome ID and password settings; just press the Wi-Fi®*6 button on the camera and instantly add the images to your blog or share them with friends via social networking sites. Users can also set the XQ2 to read its location from smartphones and tablets, enabling them to keep a record of where they took their shots. Wi-Fi transfer also enables wireless backup of photos and movies onto your computer*7 and printing is easy, too – just send images to an Instax SHARE Smartphone Printer SP-1 for Instax instant film prints.

Focus and review in comfort

The XQ2’s 3.0-inch 920K-dot LCD makes viewing easy, even in bright conditions thanks to its high-contrast, anti-reflective glass and 85° vertical and horizontal viewing angles. The LCD also helps users achieve critically sharp shots when using manual focus, thanks to its Focus Peak Highlight mode, where in-focus areas of the subject can be instantly recognized by a high-contrast outline.

Perfect colors and creative options

Fujifilm’s unprecedented image quality has been cultivated through the development of photographic films over the past 80 years, reproducing warm skin tones, bright blue skies and rich greens in trees and grass, just as photographers remember the scene. Building on this extensive expertise, the XQ2 features the new, “Classic Chrome” Film Simulation mode, which delivers muted tones and deep color reproduction. Classic Chrome is just one of nine different modes that simulate the effects of traditional Fujifilm films, including color reversal film effects (Velvia / PROVIA / ASTIA), monochrome filters (MONOCHROME, Ye filter, R filter and G filter) and SEPIA.

A separate Multiple Exposure function offers users the chance to combine two separate subjects into one photo. For further creative control, the camera’s aspect ratio can be switched between 4:3, 3:2, 16:9, and 1:1 (square) to accommodate a wide range of photographic styles. The XQ2 also features an ADVANCED SR AUTO mode, which recognizes faces and scene types, letting users shoot everything from portraits to landscapes and even moving subjects while the XQ2 optimizes the focus, exposure, ISO and other settings.

Intelligent flash

The built-in Super Intelligent Flash accurately controls the flash power required for any shooting situation, so natural-looking indoor portraits, macro subjects, or food images can all be taken while over-exposure is carefully controlled. The same function means that strongly backlit subjects, like portraits, will also be beautifully and naturally illuminated bringing out all the detail you want from shadow areas.

Process RAWs on the move

Through the in-camera RAW development function, a RAW image can be converted to JPEG without the need for additional software and a computer.

Shoot HD Movies

Movies can be filmed in Full HD at 60fps and the dedicated image stabilization function helps keep videos smooth when shooting handheld. If you want to explore the movie director in you, then try out the Film Simulation Modes to give your videos a distinctive and creative look.

Key features

Macro extension tubes are inserted between the lens and the camera body and increase the distance between the lens elements and the sensor enabling users to focus on subjects much closer to the camera.

Two extension tubes (11mm, 16mm)
This offers users a choice of tube depending on the level of magnification required.

Electronic contacts allow you to shoot with AF and AE using the tube
Electronic connections automatically pass information between Fujinon X-Mount lenses and Fujifilm X-series camera bodies so you can still use autofocus and control the aperture while using the tubes.

Designed exclusively for the XF lenses and X-series cameras
The mount rings of both tubes are made from high-grade solid metal and are precision manufactured to suit the XF lenses and the X-series interchangeable cameras perfectly.

Maximum Magnification of the Macro Extension Tube
This table details the Working Distance (distance from the top of the lens barrel to the subject) and the Shortest Shooting Distance (distance from the image sensor to the subject) of each of the current Fujinon X Mount lenses with and without the tubes attached. Some tubes do not work with some lenses. These are indicated by the grey boxes.

The shooting distance and shooting magnification change according to the position of the focusing lens group. The table shows reference values for when the focusing lens group is in the position to shoot the closest object.
