Digital Workflow – Photo Backup
(Western Digital 4 TB My Cloud)
I often say that Computer Hard disks are like Time bomb. They will go off at any moment, but we don’t know exactly when. But it certainly will. And once its gone it will go down with all your precious memory and valuable documents.
It’s absolutely necessary to make backup copies of all your Photos at regular interval. Professional Photographers use high-end server to meet their demand. I use a scale down version to serve my need.
( Transcend 1TB Portable HDD )
All my photos are stored inside the PC in a 1-Terabyte hard drive. At regular interval I make backup copy to a Transcend 1 TB USB-3 portable hard disk which is shock proof. I use Carbon Copy Cloner software to synchronize the folders between the internal hard disk of computer and the portable hard disk.
( fig – Carbon Copy Cloner interface)
Besides copying the photos to portable HDD I also make a duplicate copy to a network based Hard disk (NAS). A NAS drive acts like an independent PC, when connected to Internet you can access all your documents inside the NAS from anywhere around the world. I use 4 TB My Cloud drive from Western Digital. In this manner I always have two backup copies of my entire Photo collection.
( Inside Seagate Baracuda hard disk. © 2012 Junaed )
With these sort of backup setup if accidentally one of your hard disk fails you can restore the whole Photo library from backup. Don’t wait for the mishap to take place & there after you will backup – Do it now. It’s a hard earned lesson.
- Don’t keep data in hard disk where operating system (e.g. Windows 7) is installed. They are prone to crash when the operating system fails or become virus infected.
- Use USB-3 portable hard disks because they are very fast for copying data.
- You can also keep a copy to DVD if possible.

Digital Workflow – Photo Folder Organization
After coming from an event most of us usually keep photos in desktop forever until low disk space force us to move it to another location. But if we keep them in an organized way, things will remain tidy.
Over the years I have learned how to create a folder structure for photos that fulfil my need. It helps to keep photos organized, including scanned image from film days to mobile phone photos of digital era.
Usually I download all new photos in a folder named ” New “. Then I sort the images & rename them, Move them to respective folder e.g. Images form DSLR goes to folder ” 01 Digital ” .
The image explains which folder keeps what –
(you can create your own way that make sense to you)
It keeps your Photos organized without the need of any additional software.
It will be easy to locate Photos or browse through them.
If you have read Renaming Picture then you can see how nicely the renaming & folder structure matches together. And how easy to find photos at a later date without moving here and there.

The new EOS Rebel T6s and EOS Rebel T6i DSLR cameras combine affordability with workhorse imaging features and functionality
MELVILLE, N.Y., February 5, 2015 – Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, today announced the addition of two new DSLR cameras to its popular EOS Rebel lineup: the EOS Rebel T6s Digital SLR camera, and the EOS Rebel T6i Digital SLR camera. Featuring a newly developed 24.2 megapixel Canon CMOS imaging sensor, both cameras deliver the highest resolution available amongst EOS models with an APS-C format sensor. Additionally, the cameras feature built-in Wi-Fi® and NFC™ capabilities – a first for the Canon EOS Rebel system – making snapping and sharing high-quality, treasured images seamless.
“The Canon EOS Rebel series is one of the most popular lines of DSLR cameras on the market, and we are proud to continue to innovate and upgrade this line with features such as wireless connectivity and improved image capture capabilities,” said Yuichi Ishizuka, president and COO, Canon U.S.A., Inc. “As the popularity of this line grows with consumers, we’re excited to launch the EOS Rebel T6s as our new flagship camera in the Rebel line, as well as have another budget-conscious offering in the line with the Rebel T6i.”
With multiple features most commonly found in advanced amateur cameras, the EOS Rebel T6s is designed for photography enthusiasts, or those who are already experienced with entry-level cameras who want to take high-quality photos and videos, and look for more advanced features and functions. For more casual photography needs, or for users looking to purchase their first DSLR camera, the EOS Rebel T6i camera prioritizes affordability, without sacrificing basic SLR performance attributes like quick shutter response, and compatibility with Canon’s impressive line of interchangeable lenses and accessories.
Outstanding Image Capture Features
The new EOS Rebel cameras have an extensive ISO range of 100-12800 (expandable to 25600) to accommodate shooting situations ranging from bright sunny days at the beach to dimly lit indoor dance recitals. Digital Workflow – Photo Renaming
With the ever growing number of digital camera, photos taken by each of us becoming staggering. So after a few years there will be so many photos that it will be difficult to find out a specific photo. So every file should have a unique name. Since photos from mobile camera or DSLR devices create images of same name after certain number of pictures are taken there is every possibility that a new image will have the same name like an old one. And it might cause you lose some valuable memories.
Professionals have specific ways to prevent this mishap.
I follow a scaled down version of professional workflow suitable for my need.
Renaming Folder & File
I usually shoot photos in jpeg format.
Download all images to desktop.

- Delete all the unnecessary photos
- Batch rename all photos according to –
YEAR–MONTH–DAY_Hour–Minute_Original file name
20130110_1145_JUN_3538
(For Batch naming you can use ACDsee or Adobe bridge software)
- If you take RAW photos, create a new folder eg. 2013-01-10-RAW inside the original folder 2013-01-10
Benefits
* It keeps the folders organized
* It creates unique file name, so there will be no duplicate file name in future
* Using different cameras at the same time has little chance to create same name
* It’s also easy to browse through photos
* It will be easy to find out any photo

Press release
MELVILLE, N.Y., February 5, 2015 – Canon U.S.A., a leader in digital imaging solutions, is proud to introduce the superb new Canon EF 11-24mm f/4L USM ultra wide-angle zoom lens designed to deliver high quality, minimally distorted images throughout the entire zoom range. Featuring the widest angle of view (126º05’ diagonal) ever achieved for a rectilinear full-frame Digital SLR lens*, and a minimum focusing distance of 11 inches (at 24mm), this new lens is ideal for professionals who want the ultimate in creative image expression with sharp, crisp detail whether shooting entire buildings from a close position, entire stadium shots from a high-vantage point, large group photos at a scenic wedding or even astrophotography. Cinematographers will be equally as impressed with the lens’ ability to retain straight lines.
Fully compatible with all EOS cameras, but particularly effective with full-frame cameras such as the new Canon EOS 5DS and EOS 5DS R Digital SLR cameras also announced today, this new L-series lens features newly developed optics comprised of 16 elements in 11 groups with a three group zoom system and rear focus. The new optical design utilizes four aspherical lens elements to help minimize distortion from the center of the image to the periphery, across the entire zoom range. This new optical array provides straight lines with minimal curve throughout the zoom range, ideal for architectural, event, and forensic photography. The lens also features one Super UD element and one UD lens element to help significantly reduce chromatic aberration and deliver sharp images with high resolution. Canon’s advanced lens coating technologies are also liberally employed to help minimize ghosting and flare, while simultaneously enhancing accurate color balance and maximum light transmission efficiency.
“Canon is very proud of its optical heritage. The creation of this new lens continues our tradition of providing photographers with unique image-making solutions that are not only thoughtfully designed but precisely engineered and manufactured,” said Yuichi Ishizuka, president and COO of Canon U.S.A., Inc. “The new Canon EF 11-24mm f/4L USM ultra wide-angle zoom lens features newly developed optics and an unprecedented combination of Canon optical technologies. We are very eager to see the beautiful images that photographers will create using this new lens with Canon EOS DSLR and Cinema EOS cameras.”
The new Canon EF 11-24mm f/4L USM lens’ impressive 11mm starting focal length and 9-blade circular aperture help deliver beautiful, high-quality, detailed images. The new lens accurately reproduces straight lines in the subject with minimal distortion, ideal for architectural and landscape photographers looking to create images with tremendous depth and strong perspective.
Wide-angle lenses are especially prone to flare and ghosting. To help reduce these effects, the new Canon EF 11-24mm f/4L USM lens features Canon’s proprietary Sub-Wavelength Structure Coating (SWC) and Air Sphere Coating (ASC). SWC is applied to the rear surface of the first and second aspheric lens elements, while ASC is used on the front of the fourth element. The SWC coatings are particularly effective for combatting flare and ghosting caused by light rays entering the lens at a large angle of incidence, while the ASC coating helps mitigate the same problems for light rays entering the center of the lens. The new lens also employs Canon’s Super Spectra Coating (SSC) to enhance light transmission while at the same time optimizing color reproduction accuracy.
The Canon EF 11-24mm f/4L USM lens features a meticulously designed inner focusing system and zoom ring, as well as a built-in petal type lens hood with light-shielding grooves. Along with a high-speed CPU and optimized AF algorithms, this lens enables fast and accurate autofocusing, while its full-time manual focus feature allows manual focus adjustment even in AF mode. As with all L-series lenses, this durable new lens is highly resistant to dust and water — ideal for outdoor photography even when conditions are harsh. In addition, a fluorine coating on the front and rear surfaces of the lens helps reduce smears and fingerprints and makes the lens easier to clean.
The Canon EF 11-24mm f/4L USM is scheduled to be available in late February 2015 for an estimated retail price of $2,999.00

How Do They Make Camera Lens
We always use lenses of various kind but ever wondered how a lens is being made. I had an opportunity to go through the manufacturing process of a lens company. Who makes lenses for some renowned brands.
The process begins with cut pieces of raw ground glass of different sizes as per demand.
They are polished at different stages and checked repeatedly for quality control. Then coating is applied.
This machine runs round the clock and polishes lens.
Checking the lens for imperfection.
Lens gathered in batches for quality control.
Checking lens specification.
Different type of polishing devices used as per requirement.
Once polishing finished lenses are cleaned in acidic bath.
A polished lens is as clear as water.
A multicoated lens gives superior image quality. This machines puts the coat on a lens. Lenses arranged in a dome and ready for coating.
Lens coating chamber.
Coated lenses in dome.
Once coating is finished lens gives the multicolour glow.
Rechecking glasses.
Two lens element are joined by optically clear glue.
The bonding is made permanent by laser ray.
To reduce unwanted reflection dark color coating is applied at the rim of lens.
Final quality control.
At last the lenses are ready for shipment. These products grouped together in final assembly line for making the camera lens that we use in camera.

Features
Canon revolutionises resolution with the EOS 5DS and EOS 5DS R
Breaking the boundaries of 35mm sensors, the new cameras offer the highest megapixels ever seen in a full frame sensor, an astonishing 50.6MP. Delivering unparalleled quality, the cameras provide an exceptional combination of resolution, responsiveness and durability, whether shooting landscapes, architecture, high fashion or portraiture, either personally or professionally. When nothing but the sharpest image is expected, the EOS 5DS R also features a low pass cancellation filter to maximise the sensor’s resolution and visible image quality.Alongside the new DSLRs, Canon also introduces the EF 11-24mm f/4L USM, the world’s widest-angle rectilinear zoom lens(1), the perfect companion for landscape and architecture photographers.
Built to Maximize Sharpness
In addition to the 50.6 megapixel full-frame image sensor and Dual DIGIC 6 Image Processors, both cameras include a 61-Point High Density Reticular AF array including up to 41 cross-type AF points and EOS iTR AF for high precision autofocus. They also include the EOS Scene Detection system featuring a 150,000-pixel RGB+IR 252-zone metering sensor that provides enhanced precision and performance.
In support of such a high-resolution imaging sensor, the EOS 5DS and EOS 5DS R cameras were designed to minimize camera shake and significantly improve stability via a reinforced chassis, baseplate and tripod lug to improve rigidity. Canon also re-designed the mirror vibration control system to help reduce mirror bounce and camera shake. To help maximize stability and minimize vibrations, Canon added a new Arbitrary Release Time Lag Setting in Mirror Lock mode in both models. In addition to the standard setting (press the shutter button once to lock the mirror, then again to release the shutter), the EOS 5DS and EOS 5DS R cameras offer new setting intervals of 1/8, 1/4, 1/2, one and two seconds, releasing the shutter after the selected preset delay, allowing potential camera vibration to dissipate before shutter release.
A new Picture Style called “Fine Detail” has been added to enhance the sharpness of JPEGs and EOS Movies with three new settings: Strength, Fineness and Threshold. With such abundant resolution on each sensor, both models also provide two cropped shooting modes, while still delivering high-resolution images 30.5 megapixels for the 1.3x mode and 19.6 megapixels for the 1.6x mode. The available crop options are visible as a mask or an outline in the viewfinder; so shooters can know exactly where to frame their subject.
Establishing new standards for full-frame DSLRs
Setting a new benchmark for full-frame cameras, the EOS 5DS and EOS 5DS R combine fast, instinctive DSLR handling with the newly-developed 50.6MP CMOS sensor, providing the flexibility to shoot a wide range of scenes and subjects, making it ideal for large format mediums, such as advertising billboards and magazine covers, where every pixel matters. The sensor’s advanced architecture provides
ISO 100-6400 sensitivity, further expandable to 50-12800, ensuring high quality images with low noise, accurate colours and wide dynamic range. For added flexibility, the cameras’ resolution enables three new in-camera crop shooting modes–1.3x, 1.6x and 1:1. Visible through the viewfinder, the crop modes deliver outstanding results, with stills at 19 MP even when cropped to 1.6x. Built to withstand the most demanding shoots, the EOS 5DS and EOS 5DS R’s dual DIGIC 6 processors provide the rapid performance and responsiveness required to deliver first-class images with exceptional colour reproduction. Both processors are designed to comfortably manage huge levels of image data from the 50.6MP sensor, whilst simultaneously reducing image noise and providing the freedom to shoot at five frames per second.
Automatically exceptional
Created to ensure every detail of your exquisite landscape or high-fashion studio shoot is in focus, the EOS 5DS and EOS 5DS Rfeature an advanced 61-point AF system, with 41 cross-type points, delivering incredible levels of image sharpness and accuracy across the frame. Both cameras comfortably maintain focus with moving subjects, using EOS Intelligent Tracking and Recognition AF (iTR) to track both faces and colour. To reduce image blur, Canon’s Mirror Vibration Control System uses cams to drive the cameras’ mirror up and down in a highly controlled fashion, avoiding all sudden stops and softening the shutter-release sound. Additionally, the EOS 5DS and EOS 5DS R’s 150k pixel RGB+IR metering sensor with Flicker Detection ensures images can be captured with consistent and accurate exposures under varying lighting scenarios, including florescent.
Incredible detail and unrestricted creativity
Putting unrivalled image quality at your fingertips, the EOS 5DS and EOS 5DS R include a number of customisable modes and settings to ensure stunning results every time. A new Fine Detail Picture Style maximises the level of detail that can be achieved from the sensor, enabling advanced sharpness adjustment without the need for edit ing software. Popular creative modes, including Multiple Exposure and HDR, provide instant, in-camera creativity, while a built-in timer allows you to shoot over long periods and create stunning time lapse videos, without being tied to the camera or needing advanced software and excessive kit.
First-class professional construction, customisable features
The EOS 5DS and EOS 5DS R have been expertly constructed to allow you to operate quickly, regardless of the environment you’re shooting in. The 100% viewfinder with electronic overlay makes framing vital shots easy and can be customised to your preferred style. The large, 8.11cm (3.2”) Clear View II LCD screen, with an anti-reflective structure, minimises reflection or glare when reviewing shots and also acts as a visual and accessible dashboard of the most commonly used settings. The cameras’ new Custom Quick Control screen means that the type, size and position of icons are also easily customisable to the user or shooting scenario. Both cameras utilise Canon’s iconic design DNA–a highly durable body constructed from high-grade magnesium alloy to provide weather resilient shooting – ideal for landscape photographers who are dedicated to getting the perfect shot, whatever the weather.
EOS 5DS R: Engineered for the ultimate in DSLR image quality
When nothing but the absolute maximum level of detail possible will do, the EOS 5DS R features a low pass cancellation filter to ensure the sharpest possible results. Great for landscape photographers, where patterns are very often organic, the camera’s low pass cancellation filter produces the stunning level of detail required to turn agreat shot into an incredible shot.
Time Lapse & Video Features
Photographers and cinematographers will appreciate improved custom controls including a built-in intervalometer and bulb timer to enable the capture of time-lapse images and long-exposure images. These features are ideal for recording fireworks, star trails, sunrises and more.. A creative Time Lapse Movie function, a first for EOS cameras, takes a continuous series of still photographs and automatically combines them in camera into a Full HD movie file. Interval adjustments can be set from one second to 99 hours, 59 minutes and 59 seconds. The number of shots possible range from 2 to 3,600 with a maximum of two minutes and 30 seconds of playback time. In addition, high-speed continuous shooting up to five-frames-per-second (fps) at full 50 megapixel resolution allows users to capture fast action.
Others
The EOS 5DS and EOS 5DS R cameras feature dual card slots for CF and SD memory cards, including Ultra High Speed (UHS-1) SD cards. Built to last, the cameras also feature a shutter durability rating up to 150,000 cycles, the same as the EOS 5D Mark III.

Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralyzed (CRP) is a comprehensive treatment and rehabilitation centre located in Savar Bangladesh. Founded by British physiotherapist Valerie Taylor in 1979. I have visited CRP as a volunteer of our surgical team. We operated on number of cases suffering from bed sore. These photographs provide a glimpse of regular lifestyle in CRP. Valerie is a remarkable lady. Her hospitality and generosity is something the keeps CRP running.
This person at the front desk is a freedom fighter. He look very normal isn’t it !
However as you change the angle – you will notice something different. He works at the desk lying on his bed.
As patients are paralyzed, they need to change position every two hours. Otherwise there will be bed sore at various bony points where body touches the bed.
Patients with cervical spinal injury are given tong traction. Lying upside down, they look at their surroundings through a mirror.
Strong mental strength as well as care by the family members and health care staffs help their life going.
During lunch hour patients who are on wheel chair or bed move to the dinning area.
Its Friday, and this patient is going for congregational prayer at noon.
For amusement of the patients there is TV, playground etc.
However, this is a place no one wants to stay long. They are always looking forward to go back home to their love ones.
