Photographing Fall or Autumn Colors
Capturing fall colors
“Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower.” – Albert Camus
If there is one season when I honestly & truly feel like spending hours out in the midst of nature with my camera, it is fall. Fall is the last celebration of colors by Mother Nature and the final opportunity for nature photographers like me to make a last ditch attempt to capture some shots worth the while.
Tweaking the shutter speed
Why just be happy with capturing fall colors? Why not experiment and expand our horizon a bit by including interesting aspects in the photograph? Find a small brook, even a falls and set up your camera to capture something more than just fall colors.
Lead yourself out of the auto mode and set your camera to shutter priority and to a 1-2 second exposure, and to RAW mode. Focus on the falls, preferably using a 1 or 2 stop Grad ND to balance the exposure and shoot.
Get up close with a macro lens
Do you own a macro lens? Now is the perfect time to bring it out. If you don’t have one beg or borrow one for a couple of days and head for the woods. Imagine the above falls scene where you were pointing towards the water dropping down? Now, find a leaf. There would be no dearth of one I hope. You could place it over a rock to give the shot bit more contrast.
Focus as close as possible and try to bring out the intricate details of the leaf lying on the rock with water hurrying past. Take care to use a sturdy tripod and find some footing. Don’t be afraid to wet your feet but be careful of the water slippery rocks. You don’t want to damage your gear trying to capture a beautiful shot.
The long winding road
These are the photos that you could simply look at for minutes together and still not want to take your eyes off. For best results try head for a location that has less traffic. Park your vehicle off the road and have someone watch your back for vehicles coming from behind while you stand right in the middle of the road and compose the frame.
Focus for the trees and leave the sky out, otherwise you run the risk of an over exposed sky in the frame. Use the concept of leading lines and use the winding road judiciously to lead someone looking at the picture into the scene.
“The woods are lovely . . .” – the ubiquitous fall color shot
To capture one of these you need a wide angle lens. The omnipresent 18-55m would just be fine or anything under 50mm that you can lay your hands on. Shooting with a wide angle lens you may come across a problem of color fringing. Depending on the type of color fringing try stepping down the lens (to correct Longitudinal chromatic aberration) and or shoot in RAW to correct lateral chromatic aberration later in post-processing.

Overview
The ZEISS Distagon T* 1,4/35 ZM continues the success story of the ZEISS ZM lens family for rangefinder cameras and sets a new standard in the market. First, it is notable for its very high speed. With a maximum aperture of f/1.4, the lens creates a pleasing bokeh, which optically enhances the background as the main composition element, while at the same time directing attention to the main motif in the foreground.
The ZEISS Distagon T* 1,4/35 ZM, which is optimized for digital sensors, also stands out for its excellent flat image field. Thanks to the Distagon‘s optical design, the lens delivers high resolution across the entire image field.
In addition, as a member of the ZM family of lenses, the ZEISS Distagon T* 1,4/35 ZM has all of its assets. Complex measures inside the lens minimize any stray light that might occur. The T* anti-reflective coating from ZEISS guarantees a very high degree of flare control. The aperture consists of 10 aperture blades and is therefore almost circular. The iris can be set in steps of 1/3 through the precise and sensitive notch mechanism and with exact photometric increments. The easy-to-grip focus ring with an ergonomic finger rest enables fast, precise focusing.

Leica M Edition 60: The Essence of Photography
New York, New York (September 16th, 2014) Honoring the 60th anniversary of the legendary Leica M rangefinder system at Photokina 2014, Leica Camera presents The Leica M Edition 60. Beginning in 1954 with the Leica M3, the M rangefinder system distinguished itself with mechanical and optical precision and a focus on the essential needs of photographers. Six decades of continued perfection combined with the latest technological innovations are distilled into the current Leica M cameras.
Leica Camera presents this commemorative limited edition set containing The Leica M Edition 60 and the fast Leica Summilux-M 35 mm f/1.4 ASPH. lens.
Both have been made in collaboration with Audi Design, paying homage to the essence of photography.
The Leica M Edition 60 is the first digital camera to concentrate exclusively on the purest functionality required for photography – shutter speed, aperture, focusing and ISO sensitivity. The camera display has been replaced with an ISO selector dial. Exposures are saved as raw data in DNG format to ensure the highest quality files. Working with the Leica M Edition 60 demands the same care and attention as working with an analog model – only with the sensor and electronics of contemporary camera technology. Instead of the constant distraction of technical features and the checking of menu settings and controls, users enjoy the freedom to concentrate completely on their subject.
In addition to the unique features of the Leica M Edition 60, stainless steel has been employed for the visible metallic elements of the camera and lens. Resistant and durable in equal measure, this material lends the product a refined character. The premium look is further complemented by special anthracite leather trim applied to the camera body.
Strictly limited to 600 units worldwide, the camera and lens of the Leica M Edition 60 feature unique matching numbers between 001/600 and 600/600. The cameras also bear the engravings ‘Leica 60’ and ‘Leica Camera Wetzlar’. The special edition includes a camera protector, also created by Audi Design.
The Leica M Edition 60 will be available from Leica Stores and Boutiques starting October 2014
Canon EF 400mm f/4 DO IS II USM – The Portable Super Telephoto Lens
Product Summary
- Model name: Canon EF 400mm f/4 DO IS II USM
- Focus Type: Autofocus / Manual
- Format : Full Frame
- Mounts: Canon EF
- Color: White
- Purchase options: Amazon | Adorama | B&H
Features
Super telephoto lenses are essential whether on a safari or the sidelines to bring the image in tight on a subject, but they often are not the lightest lenses to carry around. Canon’s new compact and lightweight EF 400mm f/4 DO IS II USM super telephoto lens will help lighten the load of professional and advanced amateur photographers. At only 4.6 lbs., it is roughly half the weight of the EF 400mm f/2.8L IS II USM lens. The new EF 400mm f/4 DO IS II USM lens features newly developed gapless dual-layered diffractive optical (DO) elements that help improve optical performance while maintaining virtually the same size and weight as its predecessor. The DO element in the new lens is optimally positioned deeper within the optical formula than in the original EF 400mm DO lens to help reduce flare around backlit subjects. Other optical improvements include the use of a large-diameter ground and polished aspherical element and a UD glass element that work together with the DO elements for thorough correction of spherical, chromatic and other optical aberrations. Canon’s original SWC (Sub Wavelength Structure) lens coating is also used internally to help improve resistance to flare. Fluorine coating is applied to the front and rear lens elements to repel dust and make lens cleaning easy. A nine blade curved diaphragm is also incorporated to help produce smooth, natural-looking bokeh in areas outside the depth of field surrounding the main subject.
The new EF 400mm f/4 DO IS II USM lens features Canon’s Optical Image Stabilization with up to four shutter speed steps of correction**. In addition there are three IS modes ─ standard, panning and during exposure only ─ that help to provide superb results in a variety of shooting situations. For greater convenience, the Image Stabilizer does not have to be disabled when shooting with a tripod. Four programmable buttons on the front of the lens allow photographers to customize lens and camera operation to fit their unique shooting style, or simply pause autofocus (AF) adjustment at any point to hold focus on a subject in a busy scene. Even in AF mode, full-time manual focus can be employed at any time. The lens also features a Power Focus mode for smooth focus “pulls” ideal for filmmaking. For those mobile shooters and documentarians truly “on-the-go”, the lens is also highly resistant to dust and water for durability and reliability when shooting in even the harshest conditions. Samsung NX 50-150mm F2.8 OIS
Samsung Expands Award-Winning NX Camera Line Up with the Launch of the New Flagship NX1 SMART Camera
Samsung’s newest model captures superb images, cinema-quality 4K/UHD video; New Samsung 50-150mm F2.8 S lens brings speed to a robust lens line-up
RIDGEFIELD PARK, N.J. – Sept. 15, 2014 – Samsung Electronics America, Inc. (SEA), announces today the launch of the NX1 SMART Camera. This new flagship model combines professional image quality with cinema quality Ultra High Definition (UHD) / 4K resolution video recording and industry-leading SMART connectivity. Samsung also expands its line of professional-grade “S” lenses with the introduction of a new telephoto lens, the NX 50-150mm F2.8 S OIS lens.
“The NX1 is the new flagship in our award-winning NX line-up. It brings together our SMART camera technology, new 4K video capabilities and Samsung’s fastest AF system to date in a lightweight, portable body. This blend of cutting edge imaging technology appeals to a wide variety of photographers, and makes it one of the most competitive models in its class,” said Ron Gazzola, Vice President of Marketing, Digital Imaging, Samsung Electronics America. “The combination of the new Samsung 50-150mm F2.8 S lens and NX1 delivers an unrivalled shooting experience that gives users the confidence that they’re taking the best images or video in any situation.”
Blazing Fast Speed and Superb Image Quality
The NX1 boasts an all new, best in class, 28MP BSI CMOS sensor, which supports Samsung’s fastest autofocus system to date, the NX AF System III. Photographers can quickly focus on subjects, making this camera ideal for photographing a football player as they run down the field or baseball action at home plate. Developed utilizing Samsung’s advanced semiconductor technology, the back side illuminated sensor is capable of gathering more light than conventional CMOS sensors. The new NX AF System III features 205 Phase Detect AF points covering 90 percent of the frame, allowing photographers to quickly focus on their targets. This quick focusing ability allows the camera to achieve 15FPS of continuous shooting while continuously tracking focus. The system also employs a patterned AF Assist Beam that reaches up to 15m and will help to more accurately capture clear photos in low light.
The NX1 also incorporates a new DRIMe V Image Processer that delivers superior color reproduction and works with the camera’s built-in Adaptive Noise Reduction technology to help retain details and remove noise from photos captured at high ISO’s. The advanced algorithm also analyzes details and color in each photo, making sure users always have the clearest image.
Wide Phase Detection gives the NX1 the ability to instinctively track subjects almost anywhere in the frame, regardless of their location. Photographers can capture even the briefest of moments. There is no need to re-compose a shot – they can simply focus and shoot immediately, allowing for extreme speed and flexibility. This technology will be of particular interest to those who love to shoot video, as the NX1 supports the use of Phase Detect AF during movie recording, so that results are stable and steady.
The new Samsung Auto Shot highlights the innovation available in the NX1. Using the DRIMe V Image Processor and an advanced algorithm, the NX1 will track a baseball as it travels to a player, allowing photographers take crisp images of the moment a ball connects with a bat. While these shots can often be difficult to take, the NX1 removes any concern by accurately predicting the right time to trigger the shutter and capture a full-resolution image.
As the only compact system camera on the market with a top deck LCD panel, photographers can easily confirm camera settings, including aperture, shutter speed, ISO, white balance, AF settings, drive and battery life with one glance.
Cinema Quality Video
Videographers and filmmakers can easily shoot cinema-quality video straight from the NX1. Utilizing the next generation HEVC codec, the NX1 is capable of recording smooth and immersive UHD/4K (DCI Standard) video. Users can easily save files directly to the memory card in the camera, eliminating the need to carry hefty external 4K recorders. This is made possible by a built-in HEVC Codec (H.265).
With a myriad of input, output and connectivity options, users will be able to customize their NX1 for their unique recording needs. Additionally, using Samsung’s SMART technology, users can also share their videos directly to any Samsung UHD television via Wi-Fi.
The NX Lens Line-up Gets Faster
Expanding upon Samsung’s premium line of “S” lenses, the new Samsung 50-150mm F2.8 S lens is the second in the series and affords photographers the opportunity to capture telephoto images with crisp clarity and tack sharp focus in a variety of scenarios. Its fast aperture provides excellent low light performance and beautiful bokeh, making it perfect for sports, nature and wedding photography. The lens features an Ultra-Precise Stepping Motor (UPSM), improved from the conventional Stepping Motor (SM), it is three times more precise in its ability to control and focus on subjects. Photographers can capture sharp photos at low shutter speeds using advanced multi-axis Optical Imaging Stabilization (OIS) with four-axis control and a six-axis sensor array. These sensors detect camera motion, and help the lens to make the precision corrections necessary.
The new telephoto lens features a dust and water resistant build making it both durable and reliable. All of the lens controls, focus, zoom and OIS, are located in a single “function zone” on the side of the lens, making it easy to control.
Smart Connectivity, Tag & Go
Building on the successes of Samsung’s market leading SMART Camera technology, the NX1’s NFC and Wi-Fi capabilities offer the next-generation of connectivity, making it is easier than ever to take advantage of a host of intuitive sharing features. The ‘Tag & Go’ function lets users tap and share memories instantly and easily, pairing the NX1 with NFC enabled smartphones and tablets. Additionally, the NX1 incorporates Bluetooth 3.0 for an always-connected experience with a mobile device. After authenticating the connection via Bluetooth, the NX1 is capable of collecting important time, date and location data and automatically imports it into the image’s metadata. Once authenticated, the connection will automatically switch to a Wi-Fi connection for data transfer.
The Photo Beam feature allows the transfer of images or videos to a smartphone or tablet by simply touching the two devices together with no other configuration needed. MobileLink lets users select multiple images to send to four distinct smart devices at one time, so everyone can treasure photos without the need to take repetitive shots on each individual device. AutoShare sends every photo you take instantly to your smartphone or tablet and the Remote Viewfinder Pro function enables control of the NX1 from a smartphone, allowing the user to zoom and snap shots remotely yet still have full visibility of the scene, opening up new photographic possibilities. Manual settings can still be accessed, including shutter speed and aperture, so that photographers can retain camera control yet have another option as to how they want to frame their shot.

Features
Outstanding Performance
Within the camera’s durable magnesium alloy body resides a newly developed 20.2 megapixel APS-C Canon CMOS sensor and Dual DIGIC 6 Image Processors, safeguarded by enhanced dust and weather resistance to protect the camera. Ideal for shooting in challenging lighting conditions ranging from indoor sports to dimly lit weddings, the camera features a standard ISO range of 100–16000 for both still and video (expandable to ISO 51,600). A new 65-point* All Cross-Type AF system with EV -3 sensitivity at the center point helps deliver sharp focus for still photos even in extreme low-light conditions on subjects with limited visible detail. The EOS 7D Mark II camera also features an enhanced version of Canon’s EOS iTR (Intelligent Tracking and Recognition) AF, originally introduced with the EOS-1D X DSLR camera, enabling the camera to recognize subjects based on face and color detection utilizing the new AE system, and can track subjects using all 65 AF points.
The camera’s improved EOS Scene Detection system features a new 150,000-pixel RGB+IR 252-zone metering sensor for enhanced precision. The wide-area 65-point AF array combined with EOS iTR and adjustable high-speed continuous burst shooting up to 10 fps enables the easy tracking and capturing of fast moving subjects virtually anywhere in the frame such as birds in flight or running backs eluding a tackle. A new and innovative AF Area Selection Lever nestled around the multi-controller on the back of the camera makes it easier than ever for photographers to switch between the seven supplied AF Point Selection modes without removing their eye from the viewfinder.
At 10 fps, the camera’s buffer capacity can consecutively capture up to 31 RAW images or 1,090 Large Fine JPEGsi. Built to last, the camera also features a shutter durability rating up to 200,000 cycles, approximately thirty three percent more than the original EOS 7D camera. A newly developed mirror mechanism uses motorized control to help reduce impact and enhance camera performance during high-speed continuous shooting. In addition to adjustable high- and low-speed continuous shooting modes, single-frame shooting and two self-timer settings, the EOS 7D Mark II camera also features silent drive modes for single frame and continuous shooting. The silent settings support discreet camera operation in quiet locations.
The EOS 7D Mark II camera’s advanced AE system can detect and compensate for flickering light sources such as sodium vapor lamps that are often used in gymnasiums and indoor swimming pools. When enabled, this system automatically adjusts shutter release timing to help reduce disparities in exposure and color especially during continuous shooting.
Innovative AF Technology
The EOS 7D Mark II camera features the next generation of Canon’s exclusive Dual Pixel CMOS AF (DAF) technology, originally introduced with the EOS 70D DSLR camera. New DAF features include user-selectable adjustments for Movie Servo AF Speedii and Movie Servo AF Tracking Sensitivity. Additionally, overall focusing speed, face detection performance, and performance in low light and with low-contrast subjects have been improved over previous Canon models. Dual Pixel CMOS AF employs proprietary Canon sensor technology in which effective pixels are able to perform both imaging and phase-detection focus measurement simultaneously to achieve dramatically improved AF performance in both video and Live View still imaging modes.
With Canon’s Dual Pixel CMOS AF system and customizable Movie Servo AF, the camera provides continuous phase-detection AF during video recording for quick and accurate focus tracking of moving subjects over approximately eighty of the image area measured horizontally and vertically. DAF focusing modes include Face Detection with Tracking, FlexiZone Multi with 31 AF zones, and FlexiZone Single that allows users to position a focusing frame on the camera’s LCD screen. Canon’s DAF supports over 100iii models of Canon EF lenses (including many earlier models), providing a wide array of options for photographers to explore.
Expanding Creativity
The EOS 7D Mark II Digital SLR camera provides a wealth of creative controls building on the features and functions of the EOS 5D Mark III and EOS-1D X professional digital cameras. The new camera’s AI Servo AF III autofocusing algorithm is similar to that of the EOS-1D X camera in that tracking parameters (tracking sensitivity, acceleration/deceleration tracking, and AF point auto switching) can be easily customized for specific shooting situations, using the same type of AF Configuration Menu. This capability makes it easy for EOS 7D Mark II camera users to match AI Servo AF settings when used together with EOS-1D X and EOS 5D Mark III cameras, while also providing a high level of performance at an affordable price point.
The EOS 7D Mark II camera also offers the same level of High Dynamic Range (HDR) and Multiple Exposure (ME) functionality that was originally featured in the EOS 5D Mark III camera. The HDR mode includes five HDR shooting functions and allows users to save all source images in addition to the composited HDR image. Similarly, Multiple Exposure mode provides four compositing methods and also allows users to save individual source images.
Photographers and cinematographers will appreciate improved custom controls including a built-in intervalometer and bulb timer, also EOS DSLR firsts, to enable the capture of time-lapse images and long- exposure images. These features are ideal for recording fireworks, star trails, sunrises and more.
In addition to optional settings for Peripheral Illumination Correction and Chromatic Aberration Correction, found in other current high-end EOS models, the EOS 7D Mark II camera, for the first time, adds Distortion Correction that operates with most EF and EF-S lenses to improve image quality even further while recording video and in-camera JPEGs. The My Menu feature has also been improved with the ability to store more user-selected settings in five additional tabs.
A new and improved Intelligent Viewfinder provides approximately one hundred percent field of view, while adding the ability to superimpose a customizable selection of camera settings data such as dual-mode electronic level display, grid, exposure mode, white balance mode and AF mode. A bright, three-inch Clear View II LCD monitor (approximately 1,040,000 dots) on the back of the camera displays information and menus clearly even in bright sunlight. The EOS 7D Mark II camera is compatible with interchangeable focusing screens including the standard Eh-A as well as the optional Eh-S Super Precision Matte for use during manual focusing with large aperture lenses.
A built-in GPSiv Receiver provides a digital compass and can record location information including longitude, latitude, elevation, camera direction and universal coordinated time (UTC) as EXIF data for geotagging both images and movie files in real time. The built-in pop-up flash is convenient for many applications and can also act as an optical controller with compatible off-camera EX-series Speedlites for enhanced pro-quality lighting effects.
The EOS 7D Mark II camera features dual card slots for SD/SDHC/SDXC and CF memory cards, including Ultra High Speed (UHS-1) SD cards. Data transfer speeds from the camera to a personal computer are enhanced with the addition of a SuperSpeed USB 3.0 port.
Stunning Movie Capability
The EOS 7D Mark II camera offers users the ability to shoot in 1080p Full HD or 720p HD video up to 60p enabling slow-motion capture at full resolution in either ALL-I or IPB codecs with optional embedded time code, exceeding the specifications of other current EOS cameras. Users can also choose between .MOV and .MP4 recording formats for maximum flexibility. The EOS 7D Mark II camera’s mini HDMI port can be used to record uncompressed Full HD video to external recorders.
Canon’s Stepping Motor (STM) lenses, such as the EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM lens, significantly reduce focus motor noise, letting the EOS 7D Mark II camera’s built-in microphone capture clear audio of the scene being shot without picking up unwanted noise from the lens. The EOS 7 D Mark II camera also features a stereo microphone port and outputs stereo audio via the camera’s mini-HDMI port. The EOS 7D Mark II Digital SLR camera is equipped with a headphone jack for real-time audio monitoring, as well as a silent control feature that allows users to adjust audio levels during recordings. Other built-in ports include a PC socket for external flash units and an N3 socket for dedicated Canon wired remote control accessoriesv. A cable protector is provided to maximize safety when using the USB 3.0 and mini-HDMI ports.

Detailed Features
Serious Features for Advanced Shooters
The new Nikon D750 provides professional-level features and performance in a durable, lightweight body. Whether the user is an advanced enthusiast or seasoned pro in need of a second body, the D750 easily complements any photographic discipline with a pro-caliber capability.
Sharp landscapes and portraits are simple with Nikon’s advanced 51-point AF system, the same used on Nikon’s high-end D-SLRs. The Advanced Multi-Cam 3500-FX II AF focus system also easily tracks fast moving wildlife or sports, even at the rapid, high-speed burst rate of 6.5 frames per second (fps), at full resolution. Similar to the Nikon D4S, the D750 features the 91,000-pixel 3D Color Matrix Meter III and its blazing fast AF system uses 15 cross-type AF sensors for enhanced accuracy, with 11 cross-type sensors that are fully functional up to f/8. In addition to normal, wide area, face priority and subject tracking AF modes, the D750 also features the new Group Area AF mode for enhanced accuracy. Challenging light such as a poorly lit wedding reception is also no problem for the D750, as the AF system has been improved with the ability to lock on to subjects in as little as -3 EV illumination, a first for any Nikon D-SLR.
The D750 is Nikon’s first FX-format D-SLR with a tilting Vari-Angle LCD, with robust construction to meet the needs of working in the field. The precision 3.2-inch, 1,229K dot screen tilts to accommodate shooting overhead, at waist level and is ideal for shooting photos or HD video on a tripod. For those serious about using a D-SLR for video, the D750 delivers the same level of functionality found in the Nikon D810, with the maximum amount of manual control that’s essential for production applications.
Next Level Image Quality
The Nikon D750 features a newly developed 24.3-MP FX-format CMOS sensor to provide adept photographers with image quality that’s nothing short of astounding; with rich colors, beautiful gradation and a vast dynamic range. A myriad of other intelligent features help photographers to unlock their potential to create and share vibrant, tack-sharp images that takes an imaginative story from concept to reality.
- The new Nikon D750 features the EXPEED 4 Image Processing Engine, similar to the pro-level D810 and D4S. In addition to increasing energy efficiency and performance, EXPEED 4 contributes to the overall image excellence with noise reduction performance and other benefits.
- Whether shooting a vista bathed in full sun to a reception in minimal light, the camera produces images with exceptionally low noise in a variety of lighting conditions. The broad ISO range extends from 100-12,800, expandable from (Lo-1) 50 to (Hi-2) 51,200.
- Highlight Weighted Metering is ideal for capturing stage performances and events, preventing blown-out highlights in photo and video.
- The D750 also features the latest generation of Nikon’s Advanced Picture Control settings. The “Clarity” setting enhances midtones to emphasize intense image details and “Flat” Picture control is used for a broad tonal range, which is ideal for photo and video applications. Picture controls are also customizable in .25 increments, for maximum versatility in any shooting situation.
Full Control of Advanced Video Features
The D750 features the same level of advanced video functionality as the Nikon D810, an HD-SLR known in studios and on-set for its professional production pedigree. The camera can capture video in Full HD 1920×1080 resolution at 60/30/24p and gives videographers and multimedia artists full manual control, including aperture adjustment. Like D810, the Power Aperture feature provides smooth transitions while adjusting the aperture during recording, and in manual mode, users can control shutter speed and ISO.
The D750’s compact size and affordability will make it a welcome addition to any production environment, as will its FX and DX-format crop modes that make it a snap to adjust the focal range without swapping lenses. Implementing another indispensable feature on-set, footage can be recorded to the dual SD memory card slots, or simultaneously output to an external recorder or monitor via HDMI for a variety of applications. Camera operators will also enjoy features such as headphone and microphone jacks, Zebra stripes to spot overexposed areas, as well as the ability to select frequency ranges for the internal stereo microphone. For time lapse, the camera utilizes Exposure Smoothing, a great feature that creates balanced exposure transitions between frames when using the time lapse or intervalometer feature.
FX-Format Connectivity
The Nikon D750 is Nikon’s first full frame D-SLR to include built-in Wi-Fi, which enables photographers to both share their images and capture remotely. Using Nikon’s free Wireless Mobile Utility App1, users can connect with their compatible mobile device, such as a smart phone or tablet. Once connected, a tap on the screen engages auto focus, while the camera can be triggered remotely, making it easy to position the camera in areas where access could be difficult. Once downloaded, users can also utilize popular applications and social networks to seamlessly share images, bringing the exciting image quality of fullframe to the feeds of friends and family, on the fly. The feature can also be used to scout and send location photos to clients, or instantly deliver photos processed with the in-camera editing features.
For professional photographers and videographers, the camera also has the capability to transmit images over FTP using the WT-5a wireless transceiver plus the UT-1 Communications Unit. With these optional accessories, the camera can be triggered and controls operated in HTTP mode using the web browser of a mobile device. Live view as well as start/stop recording can also be enabled remotely, providing the ability to capture otherwise impossible footage, for example when the camera is mounted on a crane.
Command Agility and Durability
The camera is manufactured using a “monocoque” structural skin technique, which adopts durable carbon fiber for the front body and front cover, and resilient magnesium alloy for the rear cover and top cover. The resulting camera body is the ideal balance of substantial build quality and compact, yet lightweight design for comfortable all-day shooting. The structure is also sealed and gasketed to resist dust and moisture, and the shutter has been tested to 150,000 cycles. To further enhance build quality, the 3.2-inch tilting Vari-Angle LCD screen is joined to the camera using a durable three-axis metal mount, designed to withstand the rigors of professional use. Users can also opt to compose through a bright viewfinder with 100% frame coverage, with shooting info displayed using organic EL illumination.
From a newlywed’s first kiss to a bouquet toss, a split-second can make or break an image; ergonomics and the ability to quickly adjust camera functions are important factors to consider for enthusiasts and pros. The new body design ensures a secure and comfortable grip regardless of the size of user’s hands, while button placement is considered for peak performance.
Comprehensive Photographic System
Whether upgrading a current system or switching to Nikon’s legendary image quality, Nikon offers an all-inclusive system of NIKKOR Lenses, Speedlights and accessories for every type of photographer. The Nikon D750 is compatible with more than 80 FX and DX-format NIKKOR lenses, the same optics that have built a lasting legacy of amazing image quality with brilliant sharpness and faithful color reproduction. For those upgrading from a DX-format lens system the D750 can also shoot in DX mode at 10.3-megapixels. The camera is compatible with Nikon’s Creative Lighting System (CLS) using the camera’s built in flash to control remote Speedlights for creative lighting possibilities. The new MB-D16 battery pack will also be released with the camera, to provide users with extended battery life as well as a functional vertical grip.
