Press Release
December 6th 2013 – Samyang release new wide-angle 10mm 1:2.8 ED AS NCS CS lens in APS-C format.
Samyang has introduced a focused development program to obtain the highest possible optical parameters and reduce the product’s size at the same time. These efforts resulted in the latest version of Samyang 10mm 1:2.8 ED AS NCS CS lens featuring parameters and capabilities comparable to the best wide-angle prime and zoom lenses on the market.
The new Samyang 10mm 1:2.8 ED AS NCS CS is an ideal tool for indoor, architecture and landscape photography. It provides an exceptionally wide field of view of up to 109.5 degrees and rectilinear image mapping function. Owing to a fast f/2.8 lens speed you can also use the lens in low light conditions as well as sports photography and photojournalism purposes. The product’s optics comprises 14 elements divided into 10 groups, this includes 2 aspherical AS lenses and one lens made of extra-low dispersion glass. During development works on the prototype version the lens was fitted with an embedded lens hood which ensures a more compact size and reduces its weight by approximately 160 grams*.* – applicable to a version with Canon E mount
NCS (Nano Coating System)
The Samyang 10mm 1:2.8 ED AS NCS CS is the first Samyang Optics lens to feature a nano crystal anti-reflection coating system. This technology provides a lower reflection factor than (U)MC system as the coating is now applied more evenly on the surface of the lens. Benefits brought by the nano crystal layer include better light transmission, increased resistance to reflections and higher contrast, and all of this translates into supreme optical resolution of the lens.
The lens will be available from the end of January 2014.
The suggested retail price for the Nikon version is £469.99 inc VAT
All other fittings carry a suggested retail price of £429.99 inc VAT

Firmware Updates For Nikon D5100, D5200, D3100, D3200 & P7700 to Fix EN-EL14a Battery Issue
Nikon has updated the firmware to address a EN-EL14a battery issue.
From Nikon:
Modifications enabled with this firmware upgrade
Remaining battery charge is now accurately detected for Rechargeable Li-ion Battery EN-EL14a. By upgrading firmware to [current version], EN-EL14a performance is maximized so that more images can be captured (battery performance) than when an EN-EL14 is used. With firmware [previous firmware version] and earlier, the number of images that can be captured (battery performance) when an EN-EL14a is used is less than when an EN-EL14 is used.

- Focus Type: Autofocus / Manual
- Format : Full Frame / APS-C / Crop Sensor
- Mounts: Canon | Nikon | Sony

Product Features
4x ultra-telephoto zoom lens with a focal length range of 150mm to 600mm
The focal length range of this lens was extended by 50mm on the wide-angle side and 100mm on the telephoto side compared to the existing model (Model A08), making it possible to take even more striking photographs of birds, wildlife, sports, and other distant subjects. Mounted on APS-C DSLR cameras, it has a stunning equivalent focal length range of 233mm to 930mm, almost to 1000mm.
World class image quality
Employing 20 elements in 13 groups and boasting an advanced optical design, it delivers a superior balance of resolution and contrast for sharp, clear images. The front group contains three LD (Low Dispersion) glass elements (two in the first group, one in the third) for enhanced optical correction effectiveness, enabling the lens to thoroughly compensate for on-axis aberrations at the telephoto end.
The lens also adopts eBAND Coating*¹, developed from state-of-the-art coating technologies, and conventional BBAR(Broad-Band Anti-Reflection) Coating to greatly suppress ghosting and flare even when shooting under adverse lighting conditions.
Achieves a 600mm focal length in a compact easy-to-handle package
Ingenious optical design features minimize the movement of lens groups within the lens when zooming. This reduces the amount of barrel extension needed to cover the complete focusing range, making the entire lens more compact.
Beautiful background blur effects
Adopting a 9 blade circular diaphragm enables users to create beautiful background blur effects (bokeh), which provide even greater potential for creative expression. This circular diaphragm retains a nearly circular shape even at two stops down from its maximum aperture.
VC (Vibration Compensation)*²
Tamron’s proprietary VC (Vibration Compensation) image stabilization system uses a three-coil system, delivering significantly sharper images and creating greater opportunities for handheld ultra-telephoto photography.
Comfortable autofocus
Tamron’s new SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC USD features a USD (Ultrasonic Silent Drive) ultrasonic motor drive*³ for swift and accurate AF response, it delivers high torque, very fast response times, and very low noise. The full-time manual focus mechanism allows users to make fine manual focus adjustments at any time even when AF is engaged.
New elegant, high-class external finish
Tamron has upgraded the cosmetic design and finish of this lens to create a more sophisticated, high-end look in keeping with the demands of discerning full-frame DSLR users.
Employing a sophisticated linear pattern rubber grip on the zoom and focus rings and an attractive and stylish tungsten silver name-brand ring, this newly designed model accentuates its visceral presence with understated elegance and class.
Easy-to-use tripod mount
The tripod mount has been completely redesigned to provide superior stability, durability, ease of use, and portability.
Comes with “SILKYPIX Developer Studio for Tamron”, RAW image development processing software for Tamron’s SP lenses
The SILKYPIX Developer Studio software can develop high-quality images from RAW data, incorporating adjustments that can express the personal style and taste of the photographer. These include white balance, color, sharpness, and the tonal curves recorded by digital cameras.
The SILKYPIX Developer Studio for Tamron provides a range of functions, in addition to the basic adjustment capabilities, such as correcting aberrations (chromatic aberrations of magnification, distortion, peripheral light fall-off), based on the optical data. Used in tandem with Tamron’s SP series lenses – renowned for their high-depiction capability – this advanced technology efficiently produces images that meet photographers’ most exacting demands.

Profoto B1 Flash – Cordless & Off-Camera with TTL
Profoto B1 Flash
Four years ago, Swedish lighting manufacturer Profoto challenged themselves to create the most easy to use yet powerful and versatile off-camera flash ever released. Today, the B1 is set for launch, together with a new TTL remote for Canon E-TTL II cameras.
“The B1 concept was born from a simple idea,” says Göran Marén, Product Manager at Profoto. “We wanted to make it as easy as possible to use an off-camera flash, but we wanted to do so without compromising the quality and versatility that photographers have come to expect from us. All the features of the B1 and the Air Remote TTL can be traced back to this single idea.”
The most notable of these features is the B1’s groundbreaking TTL function. This is a new, patent- pending invention from Profoto that integrates flash and camera. It works like this: you attach the Air Remote TTL unit to your camera’s hot shoe, you point and shoot with your camera, and the B1 automatically adjusts its output to provide you with a perfect exposure. Photographers who prefer adjusting the light themselves can switch to manual control by a simple button-press.
The Air Remote TTL is a small, hot shoe-mounted device that acts like a wireless link between camera and flash, supporting manual and TTL control of B1 lights in up to 3 individual groups. The remote is sold separately, so that photographers may choose the right remote for their camera. The Air Remote TTL-C for Canon cameras with E-TTL II support is launched together with the B1. The Air Remote TTL-N for Nikon cameras with i-TTL support will be available in 2014.
Another interesting feature is the fact that the B1 is completely cordless. Powered by an exchangeable battery and wirelessly synced and controlled with the Air system, it allows the photographer to bring the B1 anywhere and place it without regard to cable length. The battery will provide up to 220 full-power flashes, while the Air system has an operating range up to 300m (1,000ft).
The B1 is notably powerful for its compact size. Packed with 500Ws of light, it is about ten times as powerful as the average speedlight. This is enough to overpower the sun on a sunny day, or to light up larger sets or groups of people. The light output can be controlled in 1/10 f-stop steps over the entire 9 f-stop power range. The B1 is also equipped with a high-efficient LED modeling light, powerful enough to be used as a portable video light.
The speed of B1 is also worth noting, much thanks to the innovative Quick Burst. Quick Burst is a fully automatic feature built-into the B1, allowing the photographer to shoot up to 20 flashes per second at lower power setting. At full power, the B1 will recharge in less than two seconds.
As any other Profoto flash, the B1 is compatible with a wide assortment of Light Shaping Tools. More than 120 tools are available, each with its own distinct effect on light characteristics, distribution and output.
The B1 is officially released today, along with a range of accessories, such as the tailor-made BackPack M, a Quick Charger and a Car Charger.
Distribution has already started and the first products can be expected in stores during December this year.

Press release
MOORESTOWN, NJ, October 30, 2013 – iON America, the company that brought shoot/Share™ Wi-Fi connectivity to point-of-view (POV) cameras, today unveiled its third-generation iON Air Pro wearable, high-definition (HD) video camera. The iON Air Pro 3 Wi-Fi offers powerful, new features designed to make it easier for users of all kinds—athletes, videographers and amateurs alike—to capture and share high-quality video and still images. It retains the compact size, light weight and fully-waterproof design that have made the Air Pro camera series so popular over the past year.
The company also announced new mounting options that extend the versatility of iON cameras, allowing secure, hands-free use in a wider range of environments.
Designed for professionals and consumers alike, the aerodynamic iON camera line features a number of significant industry firsts, including Wi-Fi connectivity and free cloud storage. The unique iON PODZ™ system—thin, circular discs that attach to the back of the basic camera, adding virtually no weight or volume—extends the capabilities of the iON camera lines. The Wi-Fi capabilities of the iON Wi-Fi PODZ work with the iON app for iOS and Android devices, allowing users to control camera functions and settings, preview the scene before shooting, instantly replay recordings, and immediately upload footage to Facebook, YouTube and other social networks.
The new Air Pro 3 Wi-Fi records HD video up to 60 frames per second at 1080p, with dual streaming to enable users to simultaneously “shoot and share” their recordings. A new, 12-megapixel image sensor offers up to 4000×3000-pixel still-image resolution with superior light sensitivity and wider dynamic range, even in challenging low-light situations. The camera’s “anti-shake” feature minimizes the effects of vibration for crisper images, and its built-in microphone is equipped with noise reduction to minimize the effects of wind and other distracting sounds on the audio track.
Additional new features of the Air Pro 3 Wi-Fi include extra-long, 2.5+-hour battery life and a custom-made, fog-free lens with improved light transmission for top-quality videos and stills, and a 160-degree angle of view that can be customized for tighter 140- or 150-degree angles using the iON iOS or Android app. While retaining the sleek, cylindrical shape of the previous Air Pro models, the camera casing is redesigned and boasts improved underwater capabilities up to 49 feet, with no outer housing required. The addition of a pro-grade metal ¼” tripod screw mount assures stability when used with conventional mounting systems.
“We designed the Air Pro 3 Wi-Fi to be best in class. It builds upon the great features of the earlier Air Pro models, with better image quality in a wider variety of conditions, plus a new, ultra-tough body that will withstand the most demanding environments,” said Giovanni Tomaselli, CEO, iON America. “I’m proud of the strides we’ve made, in just a little over a year, in a competitive market. The Air Pro 3 will take us one step further in inspiring the Shoot/Share revolution.”
Like its predecessors, the Air Pro 3 Wi-Fi offers these exceptional features:
– One-click capture: Easy to use, with intuitive controls and vibrating confirmation when starting or stopping recording
– Auto Rotation G-Sensor: Automatically adjusts image when camera is tilted
– CamLOCK system: Allows you to tilt or swivel camera without removing camera from mount
– Modular Wi-Fi PODZ (included with the Air Pro 3 Wi-Fi): Enables speedy, wireless uploading and sharing of videos and stills, without adding excess weight to the camera or requiring extra accessories.
– iOS and Android apps allow use of phones or tablets to start, stop and pause camera recording, change camera shooting modes, transfer files from camera to phone for easy uploading, check battery life, and more
– Built-in microphone: In addition to the noise-reduction feature, the Air Pro 3 also includes 3.5mm audio-in jack, enabling use of accessory microphones for optimum audio quality
– Multi-Region AC adapter: Comes standard with camera
The new additions to the iON mounting system are:
– iON FCS Mount: Makes it easy to secure iON cameras to any board (surf, snow, paddle, wake, etc.)
– iON Rollbar Mount: Designed for use in motorsports, the new Rollbar Mount can withstand high speeds and vibration
– Head Strap and Goggle Mount: Enables hands-free use of iON cameras for a wide variety of sports and other applications
Dawn Patison, executive producer and operations director at Lucas Oil Production Studios, appreciates iON cameras’ bomb-proof design and versatility. Her team has been working with iON cameras throughout 2013, shooting motorsports coverage that airs on seven television networks.
“Some of our most exciting footage comes from the iON cameras we mount on cars, bikes and trucks; these shots give the viewer an up-close and personal angle that most cameras can’t get. We challenge these hardworking cameras with some of the most grueling conditions on the track, including end-over-end wrecks, substantial vibration, dirt and clay,” Patison said. “iON’s lightweight, cylindrical ‘mount-anywhere’ design gives us unlimited options to achieve that perfect action shot. In the rapidly changing world of HD camera technology, innovation is a must, and that’s why we choose iON.”
The iON Air Pro 3 Wi-Fi can be pre-ordered at www.ioncamera.com ($349.99) for delivery starting November 15. It will also be available at select retailers.
