Tenba Announces Roadie Executive Backpack
Designed to be the ultimate business backpack
North White Plains, NY, May 06, 2013 – Leading the way in carrying solutions for over 30 years, Tenba announces that it has introduced a new bag to their popular Roadie collection. The Roadie Executive Backpack was designed to be the ultimate briefcase backpack for the traveling professional. It features a handsome and distinctive exterior design that matches the rest of the Roadie collection. It is built with three cascading storage sections: first for laptop, iPad and documents; second for tech accessories; and third for core business tools like pens and business cards. The cascading sections nest together when zipped shut, so the bag always maintains a slim profile.
Unique to the Roadie Executive is a dual-pocket computer compartment that will hold both an iPad and a laptop up to 15 inches. The left side of the bag has a stretchy mesh pocket for a beverage or other items for quick access. On the right side there is one of Tenba’s signature zippered side pockets that can be accessed even while wearing both sides of the harness; it fits a wallet and passport for easy retrieval.
“From photographers and filmmakers to our own marketing and sales representatives, we work with many people who spend a large amount of their life traveling,” said Jan Lederman, President of MAC Group. “The new Roadie Executive Backpack was built for the person who occasionally spends days on the road, and the only bag they will have with them most days is their briefcase backpack. You need space for everything, pockets to be organized, and it all needs to fit under the seat of an airplane.”
The exterior of the new Roadie Executive Backpack is made from water-repellant 1680 denier black ballistic nylon, and includes matte black YKK zippers with molded zipper pulls. There is a padded and ventilated shoulder harness at the rear, along with a built-in trolley strap to slide over the extending handle of rolling luggage, and a padded, reinforced handle at the top that is comfortable to carry even when the bag is fully loaded. The interior is made with ripstop nylon, with zippered window mesh pockets to carry loose items, and neoprene pockets for gadgets and larger accessories. Finally, the bag includes the same abrasion and water-resistant tarpaulin bottom panel that is used on other Tenba Roadie, Messenger and Discovery bags.
The slim design of this bag allows it to slide effortlessly beneath the seat on any airplane, and its quick access side pockets put a beverage (on the left) and your passport (in the right pocket) within easy reach.
The Roadie Executive Backpack is available immediately at a suggested retail price of $169.95. To find more information about Roadies, and to see a full video demonstration of all Tenba products, visit http://www.tenba.com.

Sigma announces 60mm F2.8 DN pricing and availability
Press Release
Sigma Corporation announces pricing and availability for new 60mm F2.8 DN
Newest lens for mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras to arrive in U.S. mid-May
RONKONKOMA, N.Y., — May 2, 2013— Sigma Corporation of America, a leading researcher, developer, manufacturer and service provider of some of the world’s most impressive lines of lenses, cameras and flashes, today announced that its new 60mm F2.8 DN Art lens for mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras (MILCs) will hit shelves in the United States mid-May for the street price of $239.
First revealed at the CP+ Camera and Photo Imaging Show in Japan earlier this year, the 60mm F2.8 is a new focal length in the Sigma lineup for both Micro Four Thirds and Sony E-Mount camera systems. It joins Sigma’s other DN lenses for MILCs: the 19mm F2.8 DN and the 30mm F2.8 DN.
“We’re constantly working to add new focal lengths to our lineup so photographers can have as many options as possible,” said Mark Amir-Hamzeh, president of Sigma Corporation of America. “This mid-range telephoto lens and its shallow depth of field will produce some very pleasing bokeh effects.”
As part of the company’s Global Vision category restructuring, the new 60mm F2.8 DN Art category lens has an angle of view equivalent to 120mm on the Micro Four Thirds system and 90mm on the E-mount system (35mm equivalent focal length). The minimum focusing distance is 19.7 inches; the maximum magnification is 1:7.2. This lens also contains Special Low Dispersion (SLD) glass, which helps minimize axial and transverse chromatic aberration.
This lens incorporates telecentric optical designs and a linear, auto focusing motor that ensures accurate and quiet focusing for video recording. Featuring a metal exterior and a simply-shaped focus ring, it has varying textures to distinguish each part of the lens. Under its new manufacturing process, Sigma’s DN users can also choose between a black or silver finish to match their favorite equipment.

Samsung Unveils SMART Camera NX2000 With APS-C Sensor, Wi-Fi and NFC
Press Release:
Samsung Expands Award-winning NX Line with the Samsung SMART Camera NX2000 Capture your world in superior quality and share your story with total ease
Ridgefield Park, N.J. – May 1, 2013 – Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd, a global leader in digital media and convergence technologies, today announced a new addition to its award-winning NX family, with the launch of the NX2000. A stylish, slim compact system camera (CSC), the NX2000 combines outstanding, professional results with revolutionary Samsung SMART Camera technology. Photos and movies can be captured with ease and immediately shared with friends and family in stunning clarity.
“Combining consumer demand for quality photography with the increasing desire for instantaneous sharing has become a focus for our NX range,” said Sun Hong Lim, Senior Vice President and Head of Sales & Marketing, Digital Imaging Business, Samsung Electronics. “The NX2000 builds on this theme to offer a stylish model which caters to the needs of today’s aspiring photographers who love to share their lives on social networking sites. Ideal for the everyday photographer who wants to capture their world, the NX2000 allows users to express themselves and share their beloved stories with ease with the people who matter.”
Impressive Photos Made Easy
The large 20.3MP APS-C CMOS Sensor in the NX2000, produced entirely by Samsung in-house, produces extremely sharp and highly detailed images. Even in low light conditions, images burst with color. Designed to continuously deliver high quality images, the NX2000’s capabilities are boosted by its DRIMe IV engine which works to reduce noise, improve speed and enable superior color reproduction.
With 8fps fast continuous shooting, the NX2000 can effortlessly keep up with the fast pace of life today, so that no moment is missed. Whether the subject is quickly moving or the photographer is on the run, the 1/4000th second top shutter speed makes taking clear, blur free images an achievable task, while the wide ISO range (100 to 25600) helps to deliver images that are beautifully balanced, regardless of the light conditions. The NX2000 works faster and harder to capture every detail, so people can re-live stories in dynamic realism.
Take Control of Your Images
Ease of use is intrinsic to the NX2000 and the large 3.7-inch WVGA Full Touch Screen provides a convenient and intuitive navigation tool to access a range of features. Slim and modern, the bright screen is simple and quick to use, making it easier than ever to control all aspects of the camera. SMART mode provides even more options to aid you in taking the perfect shot, offering 14 different scene modes, a selection of settings which reflect your shooting environment and needs. Users can take photos of fast-moving subjects, such as a child running with Action Freeze or capture everyone’s “good side” with Best Face which takes five consecutive photos and lets the user select the best facial expression of each person in the picture. Users simply select the mode that fits their needs and enjoy the expert results.
With a choice of 12 interchangeable lenses, aspiring photographers have improved control over the images they shoot with the NX2000. From ultra-compact pancake lenses and versatile zooms, to a premium portrait lens and a macro lens, the wide lens selection only enhances the photographic experience. Samsung’s innovative i-Function system allows users to further unleash their creativity by controlling various settings with the lens, such as the aperture or shutter speed, so professional-quality images are more achievable than ever.
Breathing life in to images, the 3D Still and Movie Recording capabilities of the NX2000, when coupled with Samsung’s 45mm 2D/3D lens (sold separately), bring an added element of realism to photos and videos, which can be replayed and enjoyed on compatible 3D TVs. Full HD Video Recording ensures that movies retain the same level of detail, color and quality as stills, so users can view their story just the way it happened.
Connect Your World
Enhanced Wi-Fi Connectivity is at the heart of the NX2000, enabled by Samsung’s SMART CAMERA 2.0 technology, offering a host of functions which make it easy to share and store images directly from the camera. The Samsung SMART CAMERA App, available on both Android and iOS platforms, provides a streamlined way of linking smart devices, ensuring that every tech savvy user’s treasured memories are stored without fuss. AutoShare sends photos, as they are taken, directly from the NX2000 to a smartphone or tablet, via a direct Wi-Fi connection. Special memories can be shared instantaneously from the smartphone when users aren’t connected to an access point, and images are also instantly backed up for those who are constantly on the go and don’t have time to worry about storage.
The integrated Near Field Communication (NFC) technology seamlessly links the NX2000 to many NFC-enabled Android smartphones and tablets. Simply tap the camera with the smart device and NFC immediately launches the Samsung SMART CAMERA App and automatically pairs the device via a direct Wi-Fi connection. Additionally, users can sync their favorite social website, such as Facebook, to the dedicated Direct Link hot key, for menu-free simplified sharing with the touch of one button.. True to its commitment to capturing professional quality images, the NX2000 also includes Adobe(r) Photoshop(r) Lightroom(r) 4, bolstering its offering to advanced photographers. With an array of tools, Adobe Photoshop Lightroom is the essential photography workflow application allowing photography enthusiasts and professionals to enhance, organize and share photos.
Pricing and availability
The NX2000 (MSRP: $649.99) will be available in white, black and pink from authorized Samsung retailers nationwide and at www.samsung.com

Canon U.S.A Announces Film Contest For “Project Imaginat10n” Film Festival In Fall 2013
Canon U.S.A., Ron Howard And Bryce Dallas Howard Announce “Project Imaginat10n” Film Contest Where Five Consumer-Directed Films Will Premiere At The “Project Imaginat10n” Film Festival In Fall 2013
Now the Public Can Select 10 of the Winning Photos from Project Imaginat10n to Inspire Short Films, the same Creative Exercise as Eva Longoria, Jamie Foxx, James Murphy, Georgina Chapman and Biz Stone
MELVILLE, N.Y., April 24, 2013 – Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, announced today the “Project Imaginat10n” Film Contest, which will provide the public with a unique opportunity to showcase their creativity and storytelling abilities by taking a seat in the director’s chair.
Helmed by Ron Howard and Bryce Dallas Howard, filmmakers of all skill levels will each have the chance to embark on the same creative exercise as five celebrity directors – Eva Longoria (film and TV actress), Jamie Foxx (Academy Award(r) winner), Biz Stone (co-founder of Twitter), Georgina Chapman (designer and co-founder of Marchesa) and James Murphy (founder of LCD SOUNDSYSTEM) – all of whom are directing short films inspired from ten Project Imaginat10n winning photographs.
[DPL Text Links 468]
Selecting from the same pool of 91 winning photos, the challenge is to create a short film inspired by ten crowdsourced photos and based on ten storytelling themes: Character, Mood, Goal, Backstory, Setting, Obstacle, Relationship, The Unknown, Time and Discovery. The Discovery photo will be the same in each film, “Discovering limits,” as selected by Ron Howard as a thematic tie. All 91 photos can be seen at imagination.usa.canon.com.
In 2011, Bryce Dallas Howard took part in a similar creative endeavor, “Project Imagin8ion,” where she was mentored by her father, Ron Howard, to create a short film inspired by photographs. After selecting eight winning photos, Bryce directed “when you find me,” an award-winning film about two sisters whose childhood bond is tested by a tragedy they are too young to understand.
As the first “graduating” director of the Project Imagin8ion experiment, Bryce will utilize her experience from “when you find me,” to act as a mentor for other filmmakers – speaking at select film schools and revealing her tips in an online webisode series, “Bryce’s Project Imaginat10n Film Contest Tutorial.”
“Directing ‘when you find me’ was one of the most creatively rewarding endeavors of my career. In addition to the amazing experience of being mentored by my dad, the chance to collaborate with such a vast community of artists and photographers was game changing and challenged the very paradigm of the filmmaking I had grown accustomed to,” said Bryce Dallas Howard. “My hope for the Project Imaginat10n film contest is that aspiring filmmakers will feel empowered to showcase their work and explore their own creativity. I’m thrilled to have this opportunity to engage with the filmmakers and support them as they embark on this powerful odyssey into creativity and collaboration.”
Submissions will begin on June 4, 2013 at imagination.usa.canon.com (see Official Rules for details). A panel of judges will select twenty finalist films based on overall technical quality, originality, use of imagination and impression. Bryce Dallas Howard and Ron Howard will then select the final five winning films and package them with the five celebrity-directed films as “A Ron Howard Presentation.” All ten films will be showcased at Canon’s Project Imaginat10n Film Festival in fall 2013.
DSLR maintenance tips: detecting Sensor dust and cleaning it
Did you ever ponder that dust in the air actually gets attracted to your DSLR sensor because it has a bit of static charge in it? So even though you have the mirror in down position when changing lenses, you end up attracting dust from the air. Your sensor is can thus be termed as a dust magnet.
While most professionals take care to clean up the lens, the lens cap and the filters that they use, dust still gets through into the body and then on to the sensor. While we change the lens, the mirror is positioned down covering the sensor. However the inside of the camera is still exposed to dust; as a result of which dust get can still get through.
The easiest way to detect whether your camera sensor has dust on it is to point it at something white (or neutral), set it to its narrowest aperture and then take a picture. Now magnify the picture that you took and look for black specs on it. If you are not sure, take another image and then compare. If you see the black specs appearing at the identical locations, it means you have dust on the sensors.
Now that we know for sure that we have dust on the sensor we come to a point where we have to roll up our sleeves and do a bit of cleaning. There are two ways to clean a DSLR sensor, first one is easy, send it to a professional cleaning company and let them clean it without damaging the sensor. The second is having a go at it yourself. We obviously want to clean it ourselves so here we go.
Every DSLR (at least all the good ones that we know of) have an option to lock the mirror in up position. This is known as, well, mirror lockup. This is convenient when shooting images when you are hand holding the camera and don’t want any camera shake because of moving parts inside. But it is also great for cleaning the sensor, as it basically keeps the mirror out of the way.
Ok so once the mirror is out of the way, bring out a hand blower and squirt some air on to the sensor. Sounds less techie? This works if you don’t want to spill something on the sensor that you are unsure about. But even though it sounds kind of simple it actually works. However there is a small caveat. Do not use a strong blower such as a motorized one which can be great to work with but could actually damage the delicate sensor and other parts. Having the camera held pointing downwards is advisable. When you are happy, put the lens back on and then take another shot pointing at the white wall. Can you see the black spots still? No? Congratulations you successfully cleaned the sensor. Yes? Move on to the next step.
Specially formulated lens cleaning fluids are available which can be used to clean the lenses. These can be used for water based stains and also to clean dust on the sensor. You will need a swab that can be purchased separately. Always ensure that the swabs are tailor made for touching the delicate sensor and only purchase those which are designed for DSLRs. Just tip the swab with a drop or two of the lens cleaning agent and then swipe the sensor once or twice gently. Put the lens back on and test the sensor. This should clean any dust on your DSLR sensor

Sony Announces the Cyber-shot HX50V: The World’s Smallest and Lightest 30x Optical Zoom Camera
New Compact High-Zoom Camera boasts high-resolution 20.4MP Image sensor, Wi-Fi and more
SAN DIEGO, Apr 23, 2013 – Today, Sony introduced the Cyber-shot™ HX50 camera – a powerful new compact featuring an impressive 30x optical zoom range and advanced 20.4 MP “Exmor R” CMOS image sensor. Measuring approximately 4.4”x2.6”x1.2”1 in size and weighing in at approximately 9.6 oz.2, it is the world’s smallest and lightest camera with 30x optical zoom capability3.
“Despite the emergence of smart phone cameras in today’s market, the HX50V model gives photographers plenty of reason to invest in a dedicated pocket camera” said Patrick Huang, director of the Cyber-shot digital camera business at Sony Electronics. “Its wide-ranging 30x optical zoom gives users more freedom to pick their shooting subject and position, and its extensive, advanced imaging capabilities give shooters the peace of mind that image quality will never be compromised – every scene will be given the color, detail and clarity that it deserves. This powerful combination of size and performance makes the HX50 an especially unique, versatile camera.”
Performance and Design
To complement the extensive zoom, the new Cyber-shot HX50V model offers enhanced Optical SteadyShot ™ image stabilization to reduce camera shake and blur at all ranges. At full zoom extension (30x) the HX50V camera offers stabilization that is approximately twice as effective as the HX200V high-zoom model introduced last year4.
The high-resolution 20.4 megapixel sensor in the new camera is paired with a powerful BIONZ processor, allowing the HX50V camera to produce high-resolution, high-quality images in all types of lighting conditions – from broad daylight to dimly lit interiors and everything in between. Additionally, the HX50V model features exceptionally high-speed AutoFocus that can lock onto subjects at full zoom approximately twice as fast compared to the HX200V model5.
The new HX50V camera has built-in Wi-Fi capabilities, utilizing Sony’s PlayMemories™ Mobile application, available for both Android and iOS app platforms, to wirelessly transfer photos and videos to a connected smartphone or tablet. The application also allows a connected device to be used as a handy wireless remote to control the camera – ideal for self-portraits and group shots where the photographer wants to be included.
For more advanced users who like to fine-tune the details of a shot, the HX50V camera has a dedicated exposure compensation dial and a P/A/S/M model dial for adjusting other manual shooting settings. It also features 5-blade aperture for smooth background defocusing effect and a Multi Interface Shoe for attaching compatible accessories including an electronic viewfinder, flash, or microphone. It also has a Multi Terminal for using a compatible remote control.
The camera also features a powerful X-type lithium ion battery that is smaller than any of its predecessor batteries (in Sony Cyber-shot HX series) yet delivers an impressive 400 photos from a single charge6.

The new HX50V camera has an impressive video feature set as well, delivering stunning, beautifully crisp full HD (60p) movies that benefit from Optical SteadyShot ™ Active mode7 for reduced shake and image blur if the camera is in motion. The HX50V model is also compatible with TRILUMINOUS Color technology, an expanded range of vivid, ultra-realistic colors that is available on select Sony BRAVIA TVs. Content shot with the HX50V camera can be enjoyed in these vibrant colors when connected to compatible televisions.
Additionally, the HX50V camera offers a variety of different creative picture effect settings that make it easy to spice up photos, movies and panoramas instantly and automatically with a range of fun, impressive artistic treatments including Pop Color, Partial Color, Soft High-Key and more.
