The AF Micro-Nikkor 60mm f/2.8D is a fast f/2.8 prime lens with a medium range focal length. This lens works well as a landscape lens and for even as a close up portrait lens. It has a maximum angle of view of 26°30′ on a DX format DSLR and a 39°40′ on a FX format DSLR. The AF Micro-Nikkor 60mm f/2.8D has a total of 8 lens elements arranged in 7 groups. The lens diaphragm consists of 7 rounded blades which creates wonderful bokeh. Overall picture quality is sharp.
Ideal for very close photography the minimum focusing distance of the lens is 0.72’ (or 0.22 meters). Nikon’s Close Range Correction (CRC) technology ensures that the lens can eliminate the issues of close range focusing and performs equally well in both near and far focusing distances. This technology gives Nikon’s Macro lenses a lot of edge over the other lenses in the market tailor made for close range photography. This lens however does not come with Nikon’s Vibration Reduction (VR) technology.
The widest focusing distance of the lens is f/2.8 and it can further stop down to f/32. The lens has a filter thread specification of 62mm. this is by far one of the cheapest and lightest medium focal length range prime lenses from Nikon. It retails at $520 and has a weight of only 440 grams.The dimensions of the lens is 2.8×2.9 in. (diameter x length). The lens ships with a 62mm front end lens cap and a rear end lens cap.
