The AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED II is a go to lens for most of the everyday shooting needs. It has the most ideal focal length range for portraiture, landscape and even group photos. This is often purchased as a kit lens with most entry level or semi professional DX format DSLRs, the AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED II has a respectable f/3.5 wide aperture at 18mm. at the far end of 55mm the widest f-stop is f/5.6. It can stop all the way down to f/22. The maximum angle of view of the lens is 76° while the minimum angle of view is 28°50′.

This lens incorporates Nikon’s SWM (Silent Wave Motor) technology that evidently means the lens is quiet when focusing. The presence of AS (aspherical elements), Super Integrated Coating (SIC) and ED (extra-low dispersion) elements means the lens has a reduced effect from flares, ghosts and color fringing.

This lens has a total of 7 elements arranged in 5 groups. The diaphragm of the lens is made up of 7 blades. The AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED II takes a screw on filter of 52mm. the dimensions of the lens is 2.8×2.9” (diameter x length). Over all the lens is very light and is only 205 grams. It is shipped (depending on the location of the user) with front cap.
