The AF-S NIKKOR 200-400mm f/4G ED VR II is a tele zoom lens which features Nikon’s improved VR II image stabilization system. VR II allows for a shutter speed up to four times slower than normal. The lens has a fixed f/4 aperture throughout its focal length which assists faster focusing and less tweaking when shooting. A Nano crystal coating has been provided to ensure that the lens can suppress most of the flare and ghosting when shooting at wider f/stops in broad daylight. Internal Focusing (IF) technology ensures that the lens never protrudes when focusing.
Nikon has provided their Silent Wave Motor (SWM) technology in this lens. This makes the lens ultra – quiet when focusing, perfect for the purpose of wildlife photographers. M/A (Auto to manual focusing) allows for annual overrides during the lens’ auto-focusing process. Nikon has provided 4 ED (Extra-low dispersion) glass elements in this lens. Apart from Nikon’s nano crystal element the Super Integrated Coating (SIC) which also ensures that color contrasts are increases reduces flares.
The 2.0x zoom ratio lens has a total of 24 lens elements arranged in 17 groups. It uses a filter of 52mm and has a minimum focusing distance of only 6.6’. The lens weighs 3.36 Kilos and ships with the following accessories –
