The AF-S NIKKOR 24-120mm f/4G ED VR comes across as a general purpose lens for both portraiture and landscape. Plus it has a decent focal length range for shooting subjects at a medium tele range. This F mount 24-120mm f/4 G lens has a constant aperture which provides a standard exposure across the focal length range.

Nikon’s state of the art VR II image stabilization system ensures that a shutter speed of up to four stops slower than otherwise can be easily used for hand-held shooting. Nikon has used 2 ED glass elements for increasing the sharpness of the pictures and reducing color fringing even when shooting wide open. Nikon’s SWM (Silent Wave Motor) has been used to make the lens ultra-quiet when auto-focusing.

The lens diaphragm is built using 9 rounded blades and together with the constant f/4 aperture allows beautiful bokeh. The M/A is another of the lens’ features which allows fast manual focusing override during auto-focusing. Nikon has used three aspherical lens elements to ensure that spherical aberration is virtually taken out of the equation.

The existence of Nano crystal coating ensures the remnant of ghosting and flares are further reduced. A good feature of the lens is the IF (or Internal Focusing) which ensures that the lens never extends when focusing.
