The AF-S NIKKOR 400mm f/2.8G ED VR is a pro photographer’s delight. It comes with Nikon’s tri-pod detection mode that immediately disengages the vibration reduction mode when you have mounted the lens and the camera system on a tripod. The AF-S NIKKOR 400mm f/2.8G ED VR is known for its sharpness from corner to corner, on both DX format and FX format Nikon DSLRs. It features Nikon’s Silent Wave Motor technology that ensures that the lens is absolutely quiet when focusing. Nano Crystal coating accentuated by the presence of three Extra Low Dispersion (ED) glass elements ensures that the lens has a reduced ghosting and flare problem. Nikon’s VR II (Vibration Reduction) technology allows up to four stops slower shutter speed when hand holding your camera, than normally possible. Internal Focusing elements ensure that the lens barrel length never extends when it focuses.
A constant aperture of f/2.8 which is very fast compared to the enormous focal length range that this lens offers makes for capturing bright and sharp professional quality photos. The lens has a maximum angle of view of 4° on a DX format DSLR and 6°10′ on a FX format DSLR. The lens has a total of 14 elements including the 3 ED glass elements arranged in 11 groups. The diaphragm of the lens is made of 9 blades.
