The AF Zoom-Nikkor 24-85mm f/2.8-4D IF covers a good focal length range from 24mm to 85mm and offers a fast f/2.8 aperture at its widest. This lens is ideal for both landscape and for portraiture and can be also used for the purpose of architecture photography. At the smaller end the lens stops down to f/22. This lens is compatible with both FX and DX format Nikon DSLRs.
Retailing at $745, this is a cheaper take at a wide to medium tele zoom lens and ensures that users looking for an IF lens can get something within a budget range. Several features of thee lens is worth mentioning. Nikon’s AS (aspherical elements) ensures that the lens has reduced spherical aberration. There are two aspherical elements in the lens. IF (Internal Focusing) elements ensure that the lens does not extend when focusing. Only the internal elements move and the overall length of the lens never changes. The lens has 9 rounded blade diaphragm giving a beautiful bokeh when shot at full wide. The 24-85mm has a minimum focusing distance of 0.7’ or 0.2 meter.
