Designed for the discerning photographer this Di lens from Tamron fits the larger image circle of a full frame DSLR as well as fitting a crop body should you choose to use this with one. The Tamron SP 28-75mm f/2.8 XR Di has a slightly shorter wide angle compared to the 24-70mm go to lens also from Tamron. However at the longer end the lens offers a slightly better deal. Like the SP 24-70mm Di VC USD lens this one also has a fast constant aperture of f/2.8. Tamron’s XR (extra-reflective index) glass elements together with the LD (low-dispersion) elements offers excellent suppression against color fringing, flares and ghosting. The lens has a total of 16 elements arranged in 14 groups. The barrel length is however very short and at only 92mm may appear misleading to its construction and wide aperture. This is however because of the presence of XR elements.

Mounted on a full frame, the maximum angle of view of the lens is 75˚. The 7 blade diaphragm of the lens stops down all the way to f/32 apart from the ability to open at f/2.8 constantly throughout the focal length. The lens ideal for low light photography and thanks to the presence of IF (Internal Focusing) is discreet when being adjusted.
